Contact Lenses - brand substitutions?

We've used WalMart Optical for the last year or two, and it sounds like we're now supposed to order contacts online through 1-800-contacts. My son's brand (as prescribed) is O2Optix. I see they sell generic brands. Is there a way to tell what generic could substitute for his brand?

ETA: Nevermind - I found a place online that was much less expensive than 1-800-Contacts. It's all good now!

1-800 contacts will price match.

I ended up ordering from Contact Lens King. They were $14.95/box with a $4.95 handling fee. 800contacts would've charged $24.95 with $6.95 s/h.

I googled and they seemed to have good reviews, so...

Wow I didn't realize that 800 contacts was so expensive! That is more than his dr. office. He got his latest box at Sams Club for around $15.00 -$17.00 he can't remember exactly. Thanks for the info. Dr. Is 29.00 per box.

Yeah - and I need to call WalMart and ask them if I can buy them locally. I can't recall exactly what they were when I purchased his original pair, as the whole family had vision exams and purchased glasses/contacts that same day. I do NOT think they were $24.95/box!

They (the WM people) told me to order through the 1-800-Contacts site from now on. I am so glad I didn't just get sucked into way overspending!

Oh - lol - the 800contacts folks did have free shipping for orders over $50. Of course, my two boxes came to $49.98! lol
