I'll readily admit that I wasn't really willing to give him a chance. I knew that philosophically he was miles away from me, and I just never felt supportive. I didn't have any great drive to run around badmouthing him (besides an occasional barb)... but I never thought, "Oh, well, what will be will be and I'm willing to see if his ideas work out." I think they're bad ideas and so I hoped they would naturally fail. Like the whole health care thing - I disagree that it is the duty of the government to run that industry in the way he wanted to, so I wasn't hoping his plan to do that very thing would make it through. Like the New Deal programs that are now bankrupting us and represent a crazy percentage of our national expenditures - programs that have made many of us complacent about worrying about saving for our own futures - I think most of us would have been long dead by the time his health care thing caused our nation to implode. I didn't want our generation to get some false sense of success, knowing that that same philosophy / way of doing things is now bankrupting a great number of other countries. Anyway....! I never claimed to be supportive of him, but deep down I had this, "Dang, he's so sophisticated he'll be able to pull anything in the world that he wants. He's smoother than Bush. He sounds so smart when he talks, and I hope people don't mistake 'smart' for 'wise'. They're not the same thing!" His ability to sway and make people swoon really frightened me on behalf of 'my' philosophies. With such an articulate figurehead sitting at the helm of liberalism, how could conservatism ever find its way back home??? The other part of me knew that the pendulum always swings... and yet... how could it swing away from someone who had 'it' like Obama seemed to??? And now, it seems, the bloom is falling from the rose. Never did I think it would happen this quickly. He seems to be losing some of that sophisticated clout. He seems less polished and far more like someone who also <gasp> puts his pants on one leg at a time. Go figure. I just wonder if his slips will make the news like Bush's. :-) |

I'm having these flashes from Evita for some reason. She rose so quickly and burned so brightly, but it really didn't end well for her. I have no idea why that popped into my head after reading your post.....who knows. I wonder who "Che" is in the Obama administration? hhhmmm. lol

I am far from being an Obama fan, but.................... Rush said yesterday that Obama's pronounciation of 'corpsman' is what is used in the Harvard area. Now I do not know if this is true or not.

| Honestly, I don't know if this is true or not, but, being a military family, we've been all over, and have met people from all over, and we have NEVER EVER EVER heard it pronounced corpseman. Sounds like he is referring to a dead person. I highly doubt that anyone anywhere pronounces it that way. To me, this just (once again) shows his total ignorance in regards to the military.

And while I don't have immediate family that is military, my sister and father both worked at an Army Depot (pronounced DEPO *long o sound ), and have several relatives and friends in the military, and I've always heard it prounounced "CORESman" Or "CORE"man.Just like the Marine Corp it's pronounce "CORE" (and God help you if you say anything different! )

It just shows you how much respect he has for the military. Which is zero!!! He hates the military.I hate how he talks as he can't pronounce anything right and he always emphasizes everything. (annoying)
