Talking What do you ~REALLY~ want for Valentine's Day?

We know they'll buy the flower, candy, and cards. Those are being handed to them on a silver platter.
but what could your better half do/say that REALLY made you happy on Valentine's Day?

I'll take a back rub over a $5.00 Hallmark any day!
DH knows that so he makes his own cards each year!
What a sweetie!
We haven't made plans yet for our celebration but I'm thinking about surprising him with something we've never done before. Been there, done that on the movie date, dinner out, romantic dinner cruise, etc. etc. etc. ---We celebrate all year long!
I need something out of the ordinary to make it memorable.

X

This is a good post - I'm interested in seeing what others will say...

For me, it would probably be DH and DS making dinner AND cleaning it all up! I usually do both of those things by myself, so it would be a nice treat to sit on the couch while that is all being done. That being said, DH will probably send me flowers (which I would rather he NOT do considering the highly inflated cost at Valentine's Day - just seems like such a waste) and we will go out to dinner.

X - that reminds me that I want to look in to a dinner cruise. I think that would be fun. The other thing that I really want to do is a Murder Mystery dinner.

I would love for my husband to help more around the house and to make a conscious effort to notice things that can be done. Men look at things with different eyes than women do. I would love to come home and find things done.
And Kim, I'm with you on the cooking dinner and cleaning up. My husband, bless his soul, makes me dinner and breakfast then I go into the kitchen and there's a bigger mess to clean up than if I would have done the cooking and cleaning myself.

I would love it if dh would finish up some of the projects around the house that he's been putting off.

We've kind of ruined V day for ourselves. We always had a really nice candle light dinner with our kids because we couldn't always afford a nice dinner out, I would buy steak, shrimp etc.. cook it at home and we would eat with the kids. We would exchange cards and small gifts...it was really fun. Rach and I would decorate as part of our school day. Oh, the memories. ''

See? We've ruined it! Anything less than that just doesn't cut it anymore...and considering she's married and our Ds in gone too...well, that seems improbable! lol

not sure really, we've never done the flowers thing... they just die and have to throw them out. we dont do cards they just eventually get thrown out too. we dont eat candy much the rest of the year so why for the one day. guess pretty much as we always do and nothing special, we love and show each other all rest of the year and dont have to try to be "made" for that one day

Although we consider Valentine's day to be a Hallmark holiday, we go out for a nice dinner the weekend after Valentine's day. We figure restaurants are so busy on Valentine's day, you get subpar food and service.

We don't do the flowers/chocolate/cards thing.

Well don't want a Vermont Teddy Bear or gold dipped roses.
I keep seeing that bear commercial and thinking about all the men that will see it and think wow what a perfect gift. Then this morning Skymall emails me about gold dipped roses.

What do I really want? Some of my posters framed. It is soo $$$$$ to get them framed.

You might want to change your user name from "afurrything" to "aframedthing."

Our Valentine day tradition -- started when the kids were little-- I'd pack a picnic basket - and we would have a picnic on daddy office floor -- still as much fun as it was then!

Gotta "love" those tacky v-day gifts or as I like to call them "Do you REALLY think is going to get you laid?" gifts.

Every v-day I have to hold myself back at the store because I just want to go up to every guy who is carrying some dumb v-day gift crap, slap the stuff out of his hands and tell him that if her really wants to impress his woman to go buy some really good ice cream and then get down on his hands and knees and scrub the kitchen floor while his woman watches and eats the ice cream. Bet that would pay off better than a stuffed gorilla that plays "Wild Thing"!

Hmmm maybe. afurrything is a Pearl Jam reference. aframedthing wouldn't make sense. Although the posters I want framed are PJ ones.
I use afurrything at all the places I go online, except the PJ boards because it is always taken already.

Just noting that when some people see "afurrything" they might think of a Vermont Teddy Bear.

Go out on a date with my hubby have a real nice dinner and cap it off with a shared banana split in our favorite old fashioned icecream parlor and then perhaps a nice brisk walk on the boardwalk at the beach holding hands... Peace. Catherine

I am fortunate enough that my husband is a little OCD. He cleans and cooks dinner since I don't get home from work until maybe 6. But we kind of have an unspoken rule. If I cook, he does the dishes and vice versa.

We don't do anything for Valentine's day as I want to be able to be romantic and go out. I did get my kids a little bag of candy and a card.

If I were going to want something for Valentines day I would say a family day. Going on a picnic up in the mountains and then ice cream after sounds wonderful.

Sherpie my husband is the same way, he totally cleans way more then I do so that is never ever a problem however as far as cooking with that he can bbq and if I do not feel like cooking which at this point is only 4 days a week it is pretty good and even with my cooking he will eat anything never complains defintitely a true keeper. He will be the one who gets all the chocolate as he loves it not me no chocolate at all. Peace. Catherine

BUT, This year I got myself a new hair do, My dear friend took me to 2 movies 1 this week and 1 last week, and took me to a Japanese restaurant she likes. Yesterday she took me for my very 1st manicure , pedicure and french tips all her treat. I then took us both to lunch at O'Charlie's. For her V-Day I'm treating her to the Japanese restaurant she took me to. I'm taking her to see a movie she's dying to see in March. I'm going to paid for her next pedicure and take her to lunch lunch at olive garden ( in a few weeks ). I have the BEST friend ever !!..

Completely seconded!!! All I want is a homecooked dinner, a glass of wine and control of the remote for the evening!!!

DH sometimes buys me a box of candy after they go 50-75% off because he knows I'd beat him if he paid the regular price! We are on a really tight budget, saving for a cruise for next Valentine's Day.and going RVing full time in a few years.
This year we are going to spend the night with our DD so we can babysit while she and her DH go out.

I want 8 hours of straight sleep. I have a 5 week old, and the best thing anyone could do for me is to just let me sleep for a while....

I am the girl with everything...and my hubby has a double whammy since our anniversary is also the same day...We got married 6 years ago on Valentine's, it was perfect...The only thing I would really want is to hear that my husband is cured of prostate cancer...He was diagnosed in August and it has been a tough few months for both of us..

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone....
