Anyone else caught in the snow?

I live in Maryland not far from the DC border. We have about 25 inches of snow on the ground since yesterday. Everything is shut down.

no but we are supposed to get a few inches tonight. I know my customers back east will be wanting deliveries that UPS and Fedex won't be able to make because of the snow though. Stay safe and warm!

No, I'm not but I would love to be! I know you probably don't want to hear that!

My sil lives near there and had to sleep at work last night. She was hoping she would be able to get home today!

Stay safe and warm, I know that area of the country isn't prepared for that kind of weather like we would be, so it's a harder situation.

It'll be over soon!!!

Yes, we're snowed in. It's been snowing here since early Friday morning and we're under a storm warning till 10:00 tonite. But it looks like it's stopping now. We have about 15 inches plus sleet between the layers. It turned to sleet for about 6 hours yesterday. I'm getting cabin fever.... I'm ready to get out!

I am glad that I still have power because many people don't. If I lost power, I would not even be able to go to a hotel because we have not seen a snow plow yet. I am on a corner so the other street was plowed once yesterday because it is a bus route. Nothing is moving here. A small church, an hanger at a small airport and a couple of rowhouses (in DC) had their roofs fall in.

I am originally from Wisconsin but I never saw so much snow at one time in Wisconsin.

I am teacher and I am predicting that we will not have school for at least a week.

15 inches in NE OHIO. We shoveled out though and the roads are passable but I wouldn't get in any big hurry.

Oregon has had the warmest winter in years. Here in Western Oregon we've had very little snow this year and there's not enough in some resorts to even ski.

Not much snow here; maybe an inch. I do like the snow, but it is havoc to travel in, so it's best to stay put.

I got my Valentines present early today.Bf decided we'd go out and buy a snow blower so I wouldn't have to break my back shoveling the snow out there all the time.It was a real struggle getting out of the driveway with a foot and a half snow piled up but we finally made it out and managed to buy the very last snow blower in town ,which was a display model at our local Super Walmart.Getting back up the driveway proved impossible ,so it had to be left in the street till we cleared it.I still had to shovel snow but there was a lot less work with the help of Bf and our new snow blower.

Getting a neighbor that has a truck with a blade to do it for $10 is a whole lot easier...HAHAHA!

I also find it a bit strange that someone that claims to have sciatica so bad they can't even pick up a laundry basket would be shoveling snow or even operating a snow blower for goodness sake! Things that make ya go "HUUUUUUM?????"

Not here in KY but while we were still in Michigan we once had to have a front end loader clear our (short) driveway. We had 10 & 12 foot drifts in our subdivision road.

A lot of my friends that live in VA, DC, and on the East Coast are posting pictures of their neighborhood covered in snow. Yikes! And I saw it on HLN. I wonder why our winter is warmer with less snow than usual and other places are the opposite. Any meteorologists on here? I don't get it. 3,000 miles away is not much in the grand scheme of things.

I don't recall mentioning that I had problems with sciatica recently.I had put my knee out of commision a few months ago, that had me using a cane and that did bring back my sciatica a little using that stupid cane, but my knee has improved to almost completely healed, hopefully. As for my sciatica,I haven't been bothered by it quite a while thankfully.I am taking a risk though each time I shovel snow but I have been doing much better this past year, and my sciatica has not flared up other then when I had to use the cane.
Oh,and since you are soo concerned,I will not be using the snow blower ,bf will be.I will still be out with a shovel though, helping.Thats great that you are able to get your driveway done so cheap. We are to afraid of our driveway getting damaged with those truck snow blades.

People do things because they HAVE to because they can't afford servants. For example I have horrendous carpal tunnel in both wrists. Sometimes it hurts so bad I could cry and other times not to badly. If it is in a hurting phase I can't just stop doing the things I need to do I have to do them anyway. So if you are going "HUUUUUUM?????" maybe you don't quite understand there are those of us who do what we need to do under any circumstances. I know people with fibromyalgia who work no matter what and people with bad backs, bad knees, etc who do also.

Most of us can't afford to just stop life when something is hurting. If you can then you're lucky.

Just can't quite understand someone can't lift a laudry basket but can shovel a driveway with 15 inches of snow. There's just no way anyone that can't lift a 10 lb basket of clothes could shovel 15 inches of snow....come on now...let's just get real! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe the laundry basket incident happened about 2 years go.I'll have to look up the post to be sure.People do heal ya know.It did take a looong time for it to heal,it may have took 6-8 months,I don't remember, but it did go away.I am careful not to lift too much snow at one time. I just hope everything continues to go good as it has. When we moved this past Fall I was actually picking up heavy boxes for over a week and It didn't flare up so , keeping my fingers crossed.

I wish I could find someone to clear my driveway for 10 bucks! And yes, most of us don't have the luxury of deciding if we feel like shoveling or mowing or whatever...

Remember what your parents told you about bullies when you were in elementary school? People who have inferiority complexes poke fun and pick on others to make them feel better about themselves and their lives.
It doesn't make any difference except in the mind of those who are looking for it.

So true. Could this be a poster who has an identity crisis? (More than one identity perhaps).

I got 30 and a half inches of snow and if there is anyone out there that wants to remove any of it for ten dollars please send them to my house. My car is still buried and they are calling for up to 18 inches tomorrow night and wednesday. We are expecting more snow over the weekend.
This is a heavy snow and we have teenagers in the house who have been shoveling and they are just as sore as me.
Wish us luck with the snow.

I can believe it. I have occasional (rare) problems with my sciatica, and I have rheumatoid arthritis. There are days I can work out, jog several miles, lift weights, ect. and then there are times during a flare up that I literally need help getting out of bed.

Girl, what is your problem? I sure hope you never get a health problem and be judged by others. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do... now I highly doubt the person you are judging is actually shoveling the 15 inches of snow. Perhaps you should actually READ the post instead of trying to reading into it.
Like I said before, I hope you never become disabled and have a health problem and people question everything you do. Like another poster said, there are times when we HAVE to do things. Come to our homes the next day and see how we are... you more than likely will find us with a flareup, severe pain... obviously something you do not understand.

Be careful how you laugh at someone with disabilities .... karma has a way of kicking you in the butt.
