Anyone have experience with Prime America

A girl I worked with, who has been out of work for awhile, answered an ad to work for Prime America. She needed a few people to use as "training sessions" for her, so I said ok, so they will be coming to my house. Now from what I have been told they are coming here to just to do a presentation but I am under no obligation to purchase anything. Has anyone dealt with them before? If so, were you happy, unahppy? Did you find them to be pushy? TIA

I have no experience with them, but if you google around you'll find things like this:
Insurance Journal • View topic - Prime America

Eek. Good luck! Some people say they are persistent and pushy.

Run. Run fast. If it isn't too late, tell her you have suddenly become busy every night for the next year and just can't find the time.

Seriously!

If you do let her do this "to you," get in front a mirror now and start practicing how to say "No." Practice this at least two hours a day. You will need the practice, I guarantee it.

I interviewed with them years ago for a job and turned them down. They kept calling and calling.... so I'm sure they would be pretty persistent in the sales presentation!

Many times these "sales" jobs tell you to use your friends and family as your first "contacts". The pitch I have heard from many of these is just what your friend told you: they need "practice". However it is not, it is a heavy pressure sales call and worse because it is your friend.
I am not saying that is exactly what is happening here, however, many companies have used that same model.

Ugghhh!!....there's really nothing more to say. Tell her you've come down with a terribly contagious illness or your house burnt down or something. Even if you have to burn down the house to keep up the lie.

Thanks everyone I think I may get lucky, they are predicting snow for us on Wed (the day they're suppose to come) but just in case I think I am going to use the "I am sorry but I am going to be stuck at work doing some OT" excuse and tell her I will get back with her with a date and then just forget to.

Or... if she is a good friend, you perhaps should just be straight up with her.

"Linda, I got to thinking about your Prime America practice session on Wednesday. I realized that with some direct sales companies, the 'practice sessions' are actually more than that, even though that's what they are called. If you are supposed to try to make a sale during the trial run, I thought I should let you know that I'm not interested in buying anything, so it would be a waste of a practice session for you. We already have our investment and insurance plan mapped out and aren't interested in changing anything about it at this time. If this is truly just practice, that's fine, but if you are expected to really make a sale, I don't want you to waste a trip all the way here in the bad weather."

oh lord, they must have had a huge push in the 'recruiting' bonus this year....I just ran into one of these guys at my new job. As soon as he found out I hold an ins license he wants to get together to 'discuss an opportunity'. Basically, they try to get a homeowner to roll all their cc debt into one house payment, then have them pay a 1/2 payment every two weeks to get you free from the debt quicker (that is one extra payment a year). Their mortgage rate is usually higher than other banks and most other banks will let you make extra principal payments on your mortgage, which will pay it down faster. With the economy the way it is right now, many people are already in a negative equity position on their house and the conventional wisdom from some experts is that you should not tap equity to pay off unsecured debt!!
