Venting--Amazon Frustration

I recently participated in a focus group and the payment is a $100 Amazon GC. I wanted to order a Regal Cinema GC for $50 and a Cabela GC for DH for $50. But get this--you can't buy GCs with a GC. I don't get it. I can order groceries, clothes, books, electronics, etc with it but not what I want GCs.
It doesn't make sense. They have the $100 so what does it matter if I order GCs?

Grrr just so frustrating!

If anyone can explain a logical reason why this makes sense I'd certainly appreciate it.

I suspect if they get any profit by selling other business' gift cards, it's nominal compared to the profits they get from their selling their regular merchandise.

So what's the difference between me paying $100 cash for it and paying with a GC that is worth $100? I still don't get it. Amazon didn't give me the GC someone paid for it somewhere.

Oh, I thought Amazon gave it to you. Maybe Amazon provided it to the focus group at a reduced price -- say $75, so Amazon wants to make as much profit from it as they can. But that's just a guess.

Well there's nothing I can do about it anyway. I'm happy to have it I just would have liked to do something rather then get something if you know what I mean! I'm considering a pair of Avia avi motion iShape shoes. The reviews on Skecher shape ups indicate they don't last very long. I do a lot of exercise walking.

I was wondering if those *shape* shoes really work? I haven't done any research yet, but I am curious about them1

This makes perfect sense to me. That someone paid less than $100 for it. There's very limited profit in selling other companies GCs, so they could very well lose money if you were to use a promotional Amazon GC to buy other GCs.

If you paid $100 cash for the two GCs you want, Amazon would make whatever is the profit margin on those GCs (maybe 10%, or $10).

If "someone" paid $90 for the $100 GC and you bought 2 $50 GCs with it (that cost Amazon $90), Amazon made nothing on the sale despite having the expense of handling the logistics of these sales.
