| Unclaimed Property
Don't forget to google your state name with the words unclaimed property once in a while. I just did so and discovered I have a check for at least $50. All you have to do it print out the form, make a copy of the front and back of your driver's license and social security card, then get the form notarized. A couple of years ago my husband and I both had something. We did this and received it within about a month. I suggest mailing it with a delivery confirmation since it holds confidential information. Mine doesn't list what it is or where it's from it just says "check proceeds". Last time it was a payment for my sick/vacation from a previous job that I never claimed and was close to $200. I don't remember what my husband's was. Also if you've ever had an FHA mortgage you may be owed some of your upfront mortgage insurance payment back. You can search your name at HUD - Does HUD Owe You a Refund? If a company you worked for went out of business you may be owed money.
