This was in our newspaper today, and is not far from my house. The bridge is always busy, so I am surprised that there were no witnesses. I am hoping that he just said that and he has the baby in a safe place.



Search continues after man tells cops he tossed baby girl off Parkway bridge


SAYREVILLE — New Jersey State Police are continuing to searching for a 3-month-old after her father told them he had thrown his daughter off a bridge.

The search Wednesday is centered around the Garden State Parkway's Driscoll Bridge, which spans the Raritan River between Sayreville and Woodbridge. Authorities were still on the scene at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.


Authorities say Shamshiddin Abdur-Raheem ripped the girl from the child's grandmother in East Orange Tuesday and fled with Zara Malani-Lin Abdur-Raheem.


Police found the 21-year-old at a relative's home in Winslow Township.


Winslow police Lt. Michael Hoffman says the Galloway Township resident said he had thrown his daughter off the bridge into the river.


The father did not have custody of the child. Abdur-Raheem and the child's mother are not married.

People have always been crazy but for some reason lately they are acting on their thoughts more than ever. This makes me sick to my stomach. The poor mother and rest of the family. I hope they find the poor baby somewhere alive.
