Medical Question

For those with inability to stand medical stuff (weak stomachs and gets grossed out easily) please go back now. For those with ideas and can handle gross things please help.

That was my buffer for those to turn back, lol.

I am a long time sufferer of migraines. Had one on Saturday and by Sunday morning it increased and I had bloody nose for 30 minutes without being able to stop it. Since I am in the medical field I knew to go to ER.

They did CT scan (showed nothing). Went to primary doctor on Tuesday and they are trying to make me comfortable and we are going to change daily headache control meds.

At the appointment (yes my mom drove), the doctor and my mom were commenting on how my eye was protruding slightly from the socket. This was on the same side as the migraine that I had for 4 days. They did blood work to look at thyroid and all came back normal as did everything else.

Still having nausea and vomiting, headache is dissolving but still there. Very tired and just feeling blah.

Has anyone else ever had this "eye protrusion" thing and if so, what was the end result?

I am off work until Monday and finally have capability to make eyes move back and forth to read...too much pain before. I have been calling the doctor and calling other people at my work (but I work with bones) so I am at a loss.

TIA

That wasn't gross! lol That sure sounds odd. Did you research this on the internet? My first thought was some kind of tumor but if they did scans it should have shown up. Good luck!

hmmmm...The bulging eyes can be a sign of Hyperthyroidism. I know you said your thyroid tests came back fine, did they tell you what your numbers were (TSH, T3 and T4)? Its common for doctors to say *normal*, when they fall within a certain range. Many people find that although their numbers fall within the normal range, they are indeed suffering from Hyper or Hypo. There is a great deal of debate about doctors depending soley on the numbers to rule out Thyroid issues. I also have issues with Migraines and I know what a pain they can be. Although I have had the side of my face go numb, I have never had an issue with my eyes (other than blurry vision). Perhaps they need to do an MRI which is much more precise than a ct scan, or a visit to either an Endo or Neorologist? Keep us updated on what you find out. Hope you feel better soon...

You might want to go see an opthamologist. I know it started with a migraine but if it has affected your eye like that the "eye Dr" might be able to give some idea as to what is going on... Especially if the eye bulging came on so suddenly and is in only one eye. I hope your pain is getting better, Sherrye.

Red face

Aw hon I totally feel your pain, I also suffer from migranes but I take imitrex and have learned to destress so that my migranes are far and few. I would go see a specialist and go for further tests. I sincerely hope and pray you feel better many many hugs. Peace. Catherine

I don't say this to scare you, but only because you asked. A co-worker had headaches that were diagnosed over several months as allergies, sinus infections, migraines, you name it. She saw a couple of different doctors. It ended up she had a tumor and she had to have her eye removed. I definitely wouldn't let this go!

I agree with the previous poster. My nephew had headaches so my sister took him to the eye doctor. They found a blood clot in one of the vessels in the back of the head. All the tests showed it was a brain tumor but it turned out to be a blood clot.

Once you have the eye problem solved, you might want to look into to botox for you headaches. My dh has been doing botox with great results.

I would think that since her CT scan showed nothing, it is probably not a tumor. I would think something would have shown up on the CT. Although perhaps an MRI would be a good idea. Sheripie....how are you feeling, any changes??? Hope things are going better...

CT would have showed any tumor/mass or blood clot. I am seeing the ophthalmologist in the morning and I AM going to work. I refuse to miss another day.

I am still having a dull headache but nothing like it has been. A week has been too long for the headache. I stopped taking everything except the medrol (steroid) and have been off everything since about Wednesday.

I will update when I know more. Thanks everyone for the advice and concern.

Have you contacted a neurological opthamologist?

Also, about 3 years ago, I was taking someone to a radiation appt, and there was a woman there who had "bulging" eyes, and they were doing radiation on it. Not sure what caused it, but, I am of the mindset "the more you know, the better". Hope you find out what is causing this.

Please update when you find out. Someone else may be going thru the same thing and not know where to turn.

Okay, went to eye doctor (luckily I work with all of the doctors). He says there is no protrusion and pressure in both eyes is the same. Vision is still the same in both eyes. Did test for glaucoma and that is negative. Felt weird having eyes numb but well.

Headache still there but considerably more dull. Did have bouts of nausea again today.

Allin, I did look at your link and after clicked on another link checked at hypothyroidism. I have more than half of the symptoms. I will be talking with the dr. office tomorrow anyway. They are putting me on Midren so I will be looking this drug up to see side effects and reviews.

I agree with this, my doctor took thyroid tests and told me they were normal -- I needed copies of tests to take to another doctor and when I looked at them 1 test was out of range (I don't remember which one) made an appointment with an endocrinologist to look into it further and wound up on synthroid which took care of all my symptoms that the general practitioner was trying to solve one at a time.

I have been almost a year trying to get my thyroid issues under control. I have done a great deal of research on Hypothyroidism, and it can be very difficult to get the right medicine at the right dose. I am currently taking Synthroid, and it has helped some, but also created other health issues. I suspect that my Thyroid has not been right for many years, and instead of testing me for Hypothyroidism, I was being tested for everything else (Parkinsons, MS..etc). I would push for more Thyroid testing, have you had any problems with Anemia?
