Anyone know anything about Repos and personal possessions in the vehicle

A girl here at work had her car repoed last night, she is trying to work out a deal with her bank to get the car back. In the meantime, she wants to know if for some reason they can't make a deal, and the bank keeps the car, can she get her belongings that were inside the car back? She had her son's stroller and car seat and some cds and a spare house key. A co-worker told her that the tow company would sell her the belongings back at their price, but to me that doesn't sound right, but then again I don't know too much about this. Can anyone help? TIA

It appears it depends on your state too. In California:
Licensed repossession agencies are required to make a list of all personal belongings found in a vehicle at the time of repossession. They are required to send you at your last known address of record, within 48 hours, a notice containing this list and informing you how to recover your personal belongings and the amount of storage fees owed, if any.

When I worked for a law firm, there was someone who had their car repossessed. He went to the place that had his vehicle and they had boxed up the items in the car and gave it to him at no charge. This was in Virginia.

I would agree it depends on the state of residence, daughter had hers repo-ed this past year and wast old she had something like 14 days to catch up before the company could do anything with the auto.
