Its snowing again.. so lets talk summer vacations

Anyone have their vacations planned or any ideas of where they would like to go?

I don't have anything planned, but I am thinking of maybe planning something to Williamsburg or maybe for a change head north instead of south and try CT or Mass.

DH has a conference in Montana in July. We have friends near Sacramento, California. The dds and I will fly to MT to meet DH on the last day of his conference. We are going to spend a couple days there checking out Glacier National Park, then renting a car 1-way and driving from MT through Idaho, Washington and Oregon to our friends in CA. We will spend a few days with them and then we will fly home from here. That's the overall plan, haven't planned the details yet.

You have to go to to Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho!!!
And there's a place in northern CA on highway 101 that you should go to. It's kinda cheezy looking and has big tall figures of Paul Bunyan and Babe, but it's the best place to see Redwoods.

Right now...its hard to imagine green grass and sunshine, but I can tell you I am looking forward to it! I am even missing mowing the lawn (wait until July...and I will be complaining about it). Hubby has three weeks off in August this year. Not sure what we are going to end up doing. We might rent a camp on Sebec Lake for a week, or possibly take a road trip down to Maryland and Virginia. Maybe back up to Charlottesville, we had a great time on our adult getaway last year! I am sure we will do a few weekend day trips nearby (Bar Harbor and Belfast). I am so looking forward to winter being over....Maine winters are cold and way too long!

I don't know yet, either, but we will be somewhere on a beach for a week in August. I'm thinking Ocho Rios this year.... I like family-friendly, all-inclusive beach resorts, so if you have ideas, please let me know! We went to Playa del Carmen in Mexico last year, so we are thinking of going somewhere else.

We will also take a weekend trip to San Antonio to visit the Riverwalk and SeaWorld.

I can't wait for a vacation. I'm SO looking forward to it!

The past three summers, we have been going to The Wisconsin Dells. It's a great place and affordable for us. We love Noah's Arc Waterpark and try to go during the week when you pay for one day and get the next free.

My daughter is getting ready to go to Orlando next month with her band for spring break. She has never taken a trip without the family, so she is definitely excited.

ishop2much don't bother with CT. I'm from there and there's not much to do. Head to Boston or Cape Cod.
We will be going to Pensacola, FL. My 2 boys go to a camp at Pensacola Christian College and hubby & I will be spending the week at the beach alone this year. It will be like a second honeymoon.

Summer vacation? I don't know about that yet! I've been in Cancun and Playa de Carmen Mexico for the past twenty days!! At least I have a jumpstart on my summer tan.

There is a drive-in movie in Whitefish, MT (one of the few left). That's a fun way to relax after exploring. There is also a large water park in Kalispell.
If the Flathead cherries are in, make sure you buy some! They are the best cherries! Make sure you do the entire "Going to the Sun Road" through Glacier. Absolutely gorgeous. Logan Pass is the half-way point and is phenomenal.
Kalispell/Whitefish/Columbia Falls are all within a 20 mile radius around Glacier.

Be careful if you decide to go swimming in any of the lakes in the area...They will be COLD--they are spring fed from the snow run-off!

Whitefish is where his conference is. I read about "Going to the Sun Road" and that seems like the main attraction. It sounds beautiful. Thanks for all the info!

My family went to the redwood forest when I was 8. I loved it and the trees were so beautiful. I still remember driving through the huge tree and also seeing Paul Bunyan. That was a fun trip!

Where is my Sanibel Island when I need it most ?? lol, its not even warm enough there as I sit here in New York with snow falling down so hard. However we are thinking of going to Aruba this July so that would be wonderful , but if I had a wish I would be in Tahiti or the Fugi Islands right now its nice to dream. Peace. Catherine

We're trying to figure out spring break right now. It'll be a short and simple trip, since DH has some business stuff he can't leave for too long.

For summer vacation we're taking our boat on a 10 day trip from NE Ohio (Lake Erie) to the St. Clair. We'll be going with 3 other boats, so we should have TONS of fun!!!

We also have a weekend in the plans with my family for a canoeing trip in July and then DH and I are trying to figure out what to do for our 20th anniversary in August.

No plans here. Maybe a couple of day trips in the Spring. During the summer it's just too hot to do much of anything. Well except to go see my Red Sox when they come to play the Tampabay Rays. The stadium is indoors and air conditioned!

My daughter and I are hoping to do this.

I'd also love to go to Merritt Island and bird watch.

I would love to start planning HOWEVER my husband got his retirement papers yesterday. My daughter wants to plan a trip to Canada this summer but last night my husband said that our summer vacation just might be looking out the car window driving to where we will live next.
(I cannot complain since we went to Hawaii for 2 weeks last summer)

My son lives in Boone! They have been having tons of snow this year, the college even closed more than 5 times! I think this might be a record for them.

We are trying to decide what to do for vacation. We are also all in the process of getting our passports so that we can go on a cruise together for our 20th anniversary this fall.

Hoping to head to the Carolinas this Summer and meet up with a few friends ;-) Other than that, no ideas, can't really plan anything solid right now.
