Selling bonds (banking)

My dad is deceased. My mom and he owned H bonds together.. I'm not familiar with bonds..How does one sell them and is their an issue if my dad's name (deceased ) is on them?? Too make a long story short, it may be easier for me to sell them , secondary to hassels I get becauase they are not declared as asets in their trust. The gov't is not allowing me to act on her behalf (despite her being declared incompetent, they don't recognize my POA, and I am acting as Trustee for other assets, but my parents forgot to place them in the trust)

Find a local bank that handles bonds (not all do) to redeem. When I had to redeem bonds on which both people were deceased. I showed a certified copy of the death certificate for both, and my "letters of administration" to act for the latter death, which is exactly what I thought I would need to do.

No organization has to take a POA, and the bond thing can be funky. I don't have an answer, but will suggest you go again with the POA, the bonds, your identification, trust documentation, etc and try again. In many instances, it really depends upon the person you get as to what they know or how they decide to handle things.

Goodl luck !
