Ear Mites In Cats!!!

We have a beautiful Tuxedo kitty who has an awful time with ear mites. Do yall have any tried and true cures for this? I hate seeing her obviously aggravated. My duaghter has taken her to the vet before about this, but whatever they did didn't owrk. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! Thanks!!

My vet has me clean my cats ears with baby oil on a cotton ball. I'm not sure if it is just for dirt or mites to.

These are the instructions I went with when I dealt with mites in my WeeZee's ears. and it seems to have done the trick.

I have had good luck with the lotion the vet gives for ear mites. You have to get in in right and really work it into the ear.

You can use drops from the vet to kill the mites. Stand back after you put the drops in though.

If your cat keeps getting reinfested, I would order Revolution from Australia. It's a topical. Just empty the tube on your cat's back and he'll be protected for 30 days against mites, fleas, ticks and heartworms.

I've had cats all my life. A couple of suggestions. If you have more than one cat, treat them all for it. I believe it's something they can pass back and forth. Consider making him/her an indoor cat. I believe there are ear drops or a salve that you can use too.

My jewel of a vet, Dr. X (cuz I'm not willing to share her with anyone else ;-) gave me the best thing ever for this when our dogs and cats were having this trouble:
mix 1 part rubbing alcohol, 1 part white vinegar, and 2 parts water (I've used tap & distilled, made no diff).
Put in spray bottle, spray deep into ear canals, massage at base of ear for 2-3 mins if possible (if being the operable word). Use cotton balls or gauze pads to clean gunk out.
Repeat until all the gunk is gone, or as much as you can get at.
It's not always a fun endeavor, some animals go ballistic until they're used to it, some never get used to it and I have no advice for those pet owners. My big weenie SibeXMalamute used to be a major pita about this, but now he puts up with and doesn't howl as if he's being skinned alive.
Rub some kinda lubricant (olive oil, mineral oil) very lightly inside animal's ear - make sure to get it deep in and massage for as long as the animal will allow. When my animals have had obvious infections from the scratching I've used a round or 2 or neomycin ointment until the redness was gone. Very cheap, I just buy the generic.
Do this every 2-3 days for a coupla weeks and it works like a charm, as well as being non-toxic.
After you've banished the ear mites if you clean ears once a week it goes a long way towards keeping them away, you don't need to lubricate the ears afterwards.
I must admit, though, cats look pretty pathetic during the process cuz their ears always look greasy.

We've had cats for decades and have always had good success with either baby oil or olive oil rubbed with a cotton ball in their ears.
