Nothing will help, but you could try mono-vision. 1 eye close, and 1 eye for far, that way you can have youre astigmatism corrected. It also depends on how bad you astigmatism is, if its on the low end, you might be able to get away with out the correction and just deal with it, but if the correction is above -.75, then you want correction for sure. (for the bifocal design) Also, see the doc again, because he might be able to tweak the rx to get it to work for you better. You shouldnt be charged because you probabaly already paid the fitting fee.

I was using mono vision prior to this and I'm just sick of it. It was not good for evening driving at all. It's actually gotten better the few days I've been wearing them. I have a follow up apt. this week and I think it'll be fine. Thanks for the response and the ideas. I will ask him about the rx and see if we can get a better fit!

I wear toric lenses for a stigmatism. I am on my third pair of trials because of size issues. My lenses kept slipping and I was getting a lot of blurred vision. The new type I got seem to be working well. She put in a smaller fit with more weight on the bottom of the lens to hold it in place better.

I've worn contacts for over 40 years so I know how they have changed over the years. I'm 63 now and still wear contacts since I absolutely hate wearing glasses. I've worn Bausch & Lomb PureVision multi-focal contacts for the past two years and they work pretty well. I can read perfectly up close now, but not quite as good for distance. For the most part, I am satisfied with them. I tried the bi-focal but found they did not work nearly as well as the multi-focal. |

| I've worn contacts for 34 yrs. Way back in the dark ages there were only RGP's for astigmatism. My contacts were Wet Flex brand and not as big in diameter or as hard as other RGP's. I recently needed new contacts and stayed with the RGP's. The first pair were huge!! My eye dr. sent them back and requested the size be scaled down as much as possible. I'm having a little trouble with small print but am able to persevere so far. I know of two ladies that use the two contact system, one for near and one for far vision. I don't believe I've heard of anyone using the bifocal or multifocal contacts. I tried a pair of 1.50 strength reading glasses that DH used several years ago and they made me dizzy so I'm guessing they were too strong. Good luck with finding the proper fit and type to wear. I love my contacts and don't want to give them up anytime soon!! |

I didn't have a huge problem with the mono vision. It was ok except at night, then I struggled. I was just tired of not being able to see really well with both eyes. The multi focals seem to be working better. I'm getting used to them...we'll see.

Wow, I have never heard of the mono vision. I was told at my last eye appointment that I would need bi-focal but I could get away with 'normal' glasses for now. I HATE the way I see with my normal glasses... I get a double vision deal when I read. I wonder if I should just break down and go with the dumb bi-focal glasses. I wore contacts but all the tweaking made me uncomfortable. The doc would change my script a lot more than I wanted! <G> |
