Scooter Test and Baby Gorilla

On Tuesday my husband bought me a scooter. I can walk all the live long day but what happens when the exercise is over isn't pretty. On average, when I go to WDW, I spend the next 2 to 3 days unable to do much of anything. Sort of takes the magic out of the visits. So yesterday my daughter and I went up to Disney to test the new scooter and to see the baby gorilla. Both were a success. The scooter worked really well and, while today I'm a bit sore, this is nothing by comparison. The baby gorilla was a wait and see game but we finally got lucky.

We stopped at the Disney Studios first just to ride Toy Story Mania. We were at the rope drop and still found a 30 minute wait time for that ride! Made me wonder if people camp out over night.

It seemed to both of us that they stuck in a few more spins. At least I don't remember being twirled around so much. Once we got through with that, we headed over to the Tower of Terror. The wait was 40 minutes there so we chose to skip it and head over to the Animal Kingdom.

Some of the most interesting animals we saw weren't part of the park. This red-tailed hawk was in Africa. He perched on an ibis weather vane on the top of one of the buildings.

We also saw several red breasted woodpeckers.

We walked the Pangani trail twice. The first time the staff was putting out food for the gorilla group that included the mom and baby. The gorillas are not out while they do this for obvious reasons. I did take a couple of pictures of other stuff though.

Then we grabbed a fast pass for the safari ride and went to the Tusker House to have lunch. Not sure what's going on there but that was the best buffet I've ever had at Disney World. They had a seafood stew made with scallops, clams and shrimp that was out of this world. Everything was terrific. I took these while I was waiting outside for our beeper to go off.

By the time we were done, it was time to use the fast pass. The driver we had was pretty funny but drove like a maniac. This was the only half way good picture I got.

Then we went back on the trail and there was Mom and her daughter. All together now... awwwwwwwwww!

This is Dad.

One of the other females in his group.

A bachelor male from the other side of the trail.

And Mom and baby again.

By then it was nearly 4 pm so we decided to head out.

Lowlights of the day.
Parents who let their kids continually push you in line despite asking them to stop.
The wait time at TSM.

Highlights of the day.
The safari ride driver.
The buffet at the Tusker House.
Seeing the baby gorilla.
My scooter!

Highlight and lowlight:
The sun and heat. This was our first warm day in months and both my daughter and I left the park feeling a bit yucky. Better today. We think we may have been suffering from dehydration.
