I did it..

Well....I just finished up day *90* of my P90X workout! I have to admit that I wanted to quit after the first week, but now I am very happy that I stayed with it! This program pushed me to places I never thought my mind or body would allow me to go! I only lost 2lbs in the 90 days, but I do feel like I have gained muscle, and I know that I am much stronger now then when I started. I love being able to do so many push ups, and chin ups (still working on those darn pull ups). It was by far the hardest workout I have ever done. The Ab ripper X is 16 minutes of hell! Now...I have to make the decision if I want to do another round, or maybe cut back to five days, instead of the full six days a week. I want to maintain what I have gained in muscle, and I would love to take off five more pounds, but feeling exhausted at this point!

Good job Tammy! Congratulations. Not only have you changed your body you have proven to yourself you can do what it takes no matter how much it hurts and no matter what obstacles you may face. If you cut back to five days you will still see significant change as the days, weeks, months go by.
Be proud of yourself!

Thanks Anna! It didn't really hit me until I finished the 90 days, just how important it was that I didn't give up! I kept repeating to myself Tony Hortons moto for P90X...*do your best, forget the rest*! I remember at the end of one bad workout, I actually sat down and cried because I was so exhausted, and as hard as it was for me, I made myself start all over again the next day. In the end, it did become more of a mind thing for me. In the past, I would always find some excuse as to why I couldn't lift heavier, or run longer....this was just the challange I needed!

If you can do it so can the rest of us! You are an inspiration for the rest of us. We don't all have to do the same program you did but we should be able to find something that works for us and sticks with it. I have increased my Pilates regimen the last few weeks and I can feel and see the results. I used to make excuses too. And anyone who says they don't have the time is making excuses. If you watch tv or read a book for any amount of time a day you could take that time to exercise. And anyone can get up a bit earlier to do something that gives them energy and other benefits.
Also lack of money is no excuse as you know. A person can do it at home and DVDs cost around $20 you can take $2 a week out of the grocery bill if you are really poor or sell something on Craigslist or just buy a little less food or skip the junk food that will help by giving you the $20 and forcing you to eat less.
I know that there are as many excuses as there are people in the world that's really sad.

I know how great it feels. I joined the gym 6 weeks ago and I never knew I could feel so great. I am seeing muscles I never knew I had. I also started eating was better, I only wanted to lose 5 lbs, but lost 7. My clothes fit way better. Keep it up, or it will all be gone very quickly.

Good for you!! I can't seem to take off any weight, despite P90X and my diet. I think much of it is due to my Hypothyroidism. I originally gained 8 lbs within a few months of starting my meds, I managed to take off a few of those pounds, but can't seem to get back to my original weight. That has been very frustrating with my workout schedule. But, I have come to realize...it is what it is..

I'm on week 3, and the first week I wanted to give up, I hurt so bad it wasn't funny! Now I'm loving it. I feel better then I have in years. DH is also doing it, but he is a few weeks ahead of me. He and his soldiers are actually doing it for PT in the morning. We are doing the diet and everything, the first few days I had to force myself to eat more often, but it actually made a big difference.

Congrats!

Good for you! Its a tough work out. I think for me the hardest thing was the pull ups. I didn't have a problem with the chip ups, and the push ups, but I was never able to do the Pull ups without the help of one leg on a chair. I am going to keep working on it, and eventually, I hope I am able to do pull ups without a chair. My favorite is Kenpo, dh is a blackbelt, so that helped! The leg/back workout is also one that I like. I always hurt the day after doing those wall squats, and sneaky lunges! Ab ripper X is the toughest ab routine I have ever done. Yoga is much harder than I expected. I have never made it the entire 90 minutes, I usually make it an hour, then I am done!

First time I did the Yoga I thought wow this will be an easy day! HA! was I wrong.
I can do the whole thing for the most part, but it is so hard! I dread yoga more then any other workout. I like the cardio x and the plyometrics. DH hates the Kenpo, I don't think it's bad since I used to do the Tea Bo, it's pretty similar.

We have the P90X plus to do once our first 90 days are up, then DH thinks we should try Insanity.

Remember that muscle weighs A LOT more than fat! You probably added muscle.

Yeah...thats what I keep telling myself. My clothing doesn't fit me any differently then it did before I started P90X, but on a good note, I do know that I am stronger. It is a little frustrating working so hard, and not seeing it show on the scales. I never had a huge issue with losing weight, until last year when I found out about the Hypothyroidism and started my meds. Its strange, because weight issues usually happen before starting meds, and improve once you start on Thyroid meds. The more research I have done, the more I am finding many other women who have the same issue as I do, AFTER starting Synthroid. Yet, doctors still say it does not impact weight. I, personally know better. I gained over 8lbs in a ten day period, shortly after starting meds. On my frame, that was a huge amount, and I had changed nothing in my daily routine to cause such a huge weight gain. For now...I will keep plugging away....
