I went back to the wildlife reserve located near where I live this morning. You just never know what you might see but this had a major Awwwww factor.



New factoid of the day. Baby sandhill cranes are called colts! The parents didn't seem to care how close we got to them. At times they were only a couple of feet away. My goodness, they were adorable.









This one was waiting for lunch.

Boy am I sore now but this was a fantastic way to spend the morning.

Friends are like butt cheeks.
Crap might separate them,
But they always come back together.

So adorable. Have to admit, though, that I was slightly worried when you were showing these cute little "duckling" cranes and then a picture of an alligator preying the waters. I was praying that the alligator wasn't going to prey upon the babies!

I went back this afternoon with my daughter. On our way into the park we didn't see any sign of the cranes which left me uneasy. Our weather yesterday was nasty and, of course, those gators are always a concern.



We did see other birds though. This is a limpkin.


and a Anhinga that was drying off. They spend a lot of their time under water fishing.



We also saw some good size fish.


Because it was a weekday, there weren't too many people there. Just after we saw the fish we wandered into a wide open meadow area. Fish, open area, Florida.... BEARS!!! Maybe not but I didn't want to take any chances so we turned around and headed out.

And when we got on the main trail, there they were all safe and sound.







A beautiful place but so wild it leaves you breathless at times.
