Very pricy and if you have an inground sprinkler system, it may become discolored. There are some nice patterned wood fences available. The key is to maintain it on both sides. Be sure to waterproof it / waterproof it with a stain and do it again periodically. Your time spent will be worth it. A wood fence will discolor due to sprinkler systems too, but not as noticeable as a vinyl fence. dl |

In our HOA you can only one a vinyl fence and it's only made by one company so that everyone has a uniform fence. It's pricey. It's depends on the qualify and height and also whether you go solid or split rail. It's easier to maintain than wood (ie: you don't have to sand and reseal). It depends on what look and how much maintaining you want to do. I guess you don't *have* to maintain a wood fence but if you don't, it looks like crap (at least the ones I've seen but I'm in CO where sun and snow eat at the wood fences)
