Thumbs up We Have Another Visitor

I've had my hummingbird feeders out for about the last month in the hopes that we'd get another one. Last November a female ruby-throated hummer showed up and stayed for 5 days. It was the first one I'd seen in the 5 years we've lived here.

Well yesterday around 11 am a gorgeous male RTH showed up and he's still here. I've already seen him 3 times this morning.

Apparently this part of Florida doesn't get a lot of these birds. I've talked to people who have lived here their whole life and have never seen one.

So we're doing the happy dance here and hoping that he finds a lady friend and decides to stay around for a while.

What no pictures? LOL is your camera resting?

We saw a hummingbird on our nightly walk a few nights ago so tomorrow when I go shopping I'm getting a hummingbird feeder to see if we can convince some of them to come here.

I never got a good picture until nearly dark last night. But seeing how you asked...

Here it is only 7:30 in the morning and he's already been at the feeder 3 times!

Nice pictures. He's a cutie.

I need to buy a new feeder. Haven't had one up for several years. I used to love to sit with the feeder on my lap and wait for them to come and feed. That will be something neat to show my grandson.

It's just getting the time of year here to put the feeders out. I just got mine down from the shelf today. Tomorrow I will make up the simple syrup to fill them and get them hung out. Can't wait till my little hummers return.
Meanwhile I've been watching the nests in Calif. online. One has 2 eggs and 1 just hatched 2 eggs yesterday. I got to see that mama feeding her young tonight. Also been watching the Bald Eagle nests on Santa Catalina Island. The 1 nest has 2 chicks and are they ever growing fast. Second nest also has 2 chicks but mama sits on them most of the time yet so it's hard the see them.

It appears our hummer has moved on. After seeing him 3 times early Saturday morning, he hasn't been around since.

I don't know very much about the hummingbirds in Florida but the 2 we've had have been short duration visitors. 5 days with the female we had last November and now 3 days with this one.

I'll keep my feeders out though in the hopes another one will find its way here.
