I don't know your specifics, but my doctor told me that the hormone replacement therapy is only a problem if you have not been taking hormones and then suddenly re-introduce them into your body. I am 45. She has told me to stay on the pill until I'm 52 (at this point - it could change as I get closer because it has already - she originally told me to stay on it until 50). She said the pill would mask the symptoms of menopause. I have no idea if I'm in it or not, I've had no issues. She said at 52 I would then go off the pill and see what happens with periods and everything. Lisa

"Ok, since my original thread got taken over..." My apologies for my part in that. I guess because I'm going through both situations and Mary Shomon is attuned to them both and how they relate, I didn't see it as thread jacking or unrelated. Sorry! I will say that the same compounding pharmacy I spoke of earlier also does bio-identical hormone replacement therapy for both men and women going through perimenopause/menopause/andropause. From what I understand, for women they work in conjunction with your OB/Gyn, and using your blood tests, formulate something that will bring you back into normal range. You may want to discuss it with your OB/Gyn.
