Aia I have done some pyshic readings especially after my brother passed away I did 2 for him and then me and my husband did one each our Sheltie Merlin was killed in a freak accident at only 4 years old. I have never done one where you speak to the dead however. I get mixed emotions and feelings when it comes to these things. Sometimes I felt yeah you got it all right and then there was alot of information that did not make sense, however they tell you it will in another way shape or form . Where you considering doing this for yourself or someone else kindly share if you will. Peace to all. Catherine

I haven't done it but do feel that there are people who can "talk to the dead". My mom met a good medium once who knew a lot of things and she found it really interesting. I find anything "ghostly" interesting (ghost hunters, haunted houses, ghost stories based on fact) but I haven't taken money to speak to a medium personally. Maybe it's because there is nothing I really need to know from anyone who is deceased....I'm not sure

I would like to believe in it. I think it would be very comforting, but I think that whole profession is a scam. I would love to have contact with my grandmother, but I just think those people are con people.

I have had a psychic reading done on a couple of occasions and alot of what she said did come true. I went with a friend just for the fun of it, because I did not really believe in it, but she did, I said I would go with her, because she wanted me to. I do not believe in speaking to the dead through a psychic.

A family member had this done. A lot of things were mentioned that only we would have known. I find it interesting, tho, that everything was positive towards the person who had the reading. I would love to believe that this is a real thing, but, am very very very skeptical. My cousin, who is very religious, claims that she can speak to dead people as well.

there is so much information about people on the internet anymore, tho, that I would think it would be fairly easy for a person to find out a lot of stuff about someone before they speak to them. This man had a waiting list, too, so he could have time to research.

I have dreampt of my deceased parents the same way I have dreampt about people I have not seen in years. Just normal daily settings but I never know during the dream that they are deceased.
I find that very strange when I wake up that knowing they have been gone for year my unconcious doesn't know that they are gone. Maybe it is better this way.

My mom's friend's dd had a phone reading with Rebecca Rosen (she lives in CO, grew up in MI). The amount of details the dd got was amazing. She was right on.

I think some people can "speak" to the dead.
I think some people have special abilities as far as precognition.

I don't know that I believe those who charge are "real" or legitimate.

My dad has some precognitive abilities--he ALWAYS knows when a person is going to die because he dreams of preaching the funeral. He doesn't always know who, but he knows when he has a dream, someone will die usually within the week. And for the naysayers---there have been cases where he's dreamed about preaching a funeral of a person who died unexpectedly, that he didn't know well. It's kind of freaky for him actually.

I agree Marilyn I don't know if I truly feel the these people can really tell the future or can talk to the dead, this is of course the people who make money by telling us our life or dreams or of the future or of the past. Like I mentioned before when me and my husband went to a physic for our sheltie Merlin who saddly passed away from a tragic accident while my husband had taken her on a saturday to check things out on his new construction site. Long story short sadly Merlin being the very curious sheltie she was walked away and went searching through the new building being built and sadly felt to her death down the empty elevator shaft. Fast forward my husband totally blamed himself and took Merlin's death very bad and wanted to know the so called truth. Now this physic told us that no matter what Merlin was going to die that day no matter what it was her destiny and God needed her. But I have to say the day Merlin died we were all devasted and the children were crying so much all of us were crying and my husband said I cannot come home to no sheltie we must get another one . So I called up the same place we have gotten our past shelties and asked for a female and the lady said I have 2 one female and one really really small male. We all went with tears in our eyes and just to get the female aka Sunshine and then of course my husbands turns to me and says Cat perhaps we should look at the male and perhaps lets get 2. I could not believe it and long story short we got this tinest sheltie ever only 3 lbs Simba. Now Merlin passed away on 7-24-04 and 4 years before that we had to put our Bambi girl 14 years old to sleep on 7-24-2000. All these events happened on 7/24 and the physic told us we were mean't to be the parents to Sunshine and Simba. I often wonder who knows what the truth is. However Marilyn I do believe in faith and like you said about your Dad I do believe certain people can and do have the gift of certain unique gifts and can see the future and can predict the future. I have no experience. But, I hope it brings you peace and/or comfort if you try it.

I see my son often - when I am awake and when I am asleep. He talks to me and I hear him. I smell him. He has been dead for over a year. I believe that when one of us is ready to let go, his visits will stop. That is a bittersweet thought.

Aww sweetie nightowlrn I totally understand how you feel for your son my heart breaks for you. I also know for a fact that my brother Sonny while he may not be with me in the flesh he is all around me in spirit and totally feel he is my guardian angel in heaven to protect the ones he loves on earth and someday we all will be reunited.. I talk to him all the time and there are some times I swear if I am laying down quite and perhaps asleep I can him his voice and he is calling my name. Well, I would like to believe it. Here's my story:

A year or so after my mother died (she was 83), I was sitting in bed watching John Edward on TV. He was in the middle of talking to a woman in the audience and then all of a sudden, he said ''wait a minute, wait a minute, there's someone else coming thru... someone named **** (and he named my mother who had an unusual nickname). No one but family knew that name. (Remember I was watching this on TV from my house).
Anyway, he said her name again and then he said 'I have no idea what this means but she's saying 'bring in the african violet'. My mother loved flowers and could grow anything. She took great pride in her flowers.
So I sat there and remembered that my sister had been given an African Violet by our cousin and it was dying, so she had put it outside on her porch. I called my sister the next day and said 'do you still have that African violet?' She said yes, but it's out on the porch because it's dying. I told her about watching John Edward and what he'd said. She said she got chills and went outside and brought the African violet inside. That was probably 5 years ago or more.
The African violet is alive and well sitting in her house now!!!

I guess I am being wishy washy, I am not sure what I think. For years I woulda said it was just bunk, but now days I am just not sure. I went to a psychic festival with my daughter last year and she paid for a reading, I piddled around and looked at all the stuff there while she got her reading. When I could tell it was done I walked up and started my usual running my mouth and the psychic told her some things about me that I know she wouldn't have even thought to ask as there were some major things going on in her life at the moment that she was hoping for help with. I was amazed as she was spot on, she tried to get me to have a reading as she said there was more I needed to know, cheapo wouldn't spend the money, plus I was too surprised by what she had just said to really be comfortable with a reading right then. I have no doubt that a lot of them are scammers, but some people maybe for real, because I have had things happen that I couldnt explain. When my daughter was growing up I could always tell when something bad was gonna happen, I could just feel something was terribly wrong. It took a long time for me to understand what was happening, as sometimes I might not find out what had happen till a good bit later. As it kept happening and I would find out what had happened and thought back to the times before I kinda strung it together. Now when I get that pecular feeling I listen to it a lot closer than I did years ago.

I would not want to communicate with relatives or anyone that has deceased.I would worry that I disturbed them and then they would not be able to rest.

I have had psychic readings that were on point. I always wanted to go to someone who can communicate with the dead because I have had a lot of things happen, that I would like to confirm. For example, when I was very close to my grandparents, when my grandfather died we went back to my grandmother's and she took a pic of me and my brothers by her door, when the pic came back in the cross part of her door behind us, there was an image that I swear was my grandfather. Then when she passed away, we all joked and said that she will send us a sign by doing something car related (it was a family joke because she was always fixing something on her car that didn't need to be fixed and she was always driving somewhere) The evening after we buried her, I went to a friends house, when I went to leave, my car didn't start, no matter how many times my brother tried to jump my car it wouldn't take. Finally we just kept it on and didn't check to see if the battery kept the charge and went to Strauss Auto to get me a new battery. The guy behind the counter looked puzzled when I told him the car and said he only had one left for my car, and it was a Delco battery. I turned white because that is where my grandfather retired from. So I always wonder if that was a sign to let me know they were ok or just a coincidence.

I'm fascinated by it. My friend in California does readings. She gave me one and totally freaked me out. Only a few people know of the nickname my dad had for me (mom, hubby) and she nailed it. I never told her what it was. She also mentioned some other personal things that she doesn't eve know. I also believe that they (the spirits are around us). My dad would always tease me by tickling my neck and one day I was talking to my mom and this happened to me for about 5 minutes. No one was in the house at the time and I remember saying "Stop it dad" and it did like I always said to him. Sad thing is I've never felt it again and I miss it.

For me, these are the worst. I had a dream that my Mom came back from the dead and I was able to tell her about a big situation that occured since her death. In her usual style she was "gonna fix that". I woke up and had to realize that not only was she not truly back from the dead, but, couldn't fix the thing that was wrong

Guess I'm in the minority, but I do not believe in psychic readings. In fact, I believe they're from Satan.

I don't think you can pay some lady with a crystal ball $20 and find out your future.

I think it's insulting to God to try to "bypass" his timing to find out "right away" what's going to happen. I believe life unfolds in due time.

Having said all that, though, I am glad that some people have gotten comfort from psychics. It's just too bad that they have to "pay" to get that comfort

While I don't believe in psychics, I do believe in angels.

I *think*, and this is just my opinion--people can communicate with those who have passed. For whatever reason the spirit is not at rest, thus the spirit of a deceased loved one may need to communicate something to the living to be at rest. Not so much to foretell the future, but maybe something along the lines of helping a living human in some ways that cannot be fathomed. I find it odd that you can believe in Angels, but you don't believe in psychics/clairvoyants/mediums. I think God (or whatever higher power a person believes in) can communicate directly to us humans, or he may use some other method. I believe EVERYTHING happens for a reason. I wouldn't be looking for answers to the future per se--but I should would like some insight on a couple of issues.

I do not believe everything a physic has told me to be the absolute truth , or rather I should say they nailed everything they told me on the head, however most of it was true, and perhaps I wanted to truly believe it was real to make myself feel better especially about my brother Sonny. As far as considering them as a form of Satan or Satan no way would I ever say that. I also firmly agree with Marilyn that things happen for a reason, why I feel that way would take too long, however for me it is the way I feel.I may not understand today or even tomorrow or even a year later but sooner or later it makes sense to me and then I say to myself, yes there was a reason something happened. On a final note I would not want to know my future being the worry person I am I would be worrying about future problems. Peace. Catherine

I understand your points, Marilyn, but I believe that when you die, you immediately go to heaven so your spirit is, indeed, at rest. I don't think spirits have to "hang around" for a while before going to heaven for eternity.

The difference between angels and psychics is like night and day. Angels embody nothing but good/love while psychics are simply using people to make a ton of money.

As far as wanting insight, I don't feel like I need a middleman to communicate with God. I don't believe for one second that God would give a psychic a message for me and then make me PAY to get that information!

I've read people before, not with the intent to deceive (in one case, I was just going with the associations a certain pair of earrings had for me), and convinced them that I was sensitive, or able to pick up on what they were thinking. It's not that hard to do.

While I think there there can besome post-death communication, I don't think it's generally possible to call on someone, and I'd be really hesitant to try, or have someone do so on my behalf. If someone needs to get through to you, I think they'll typically manage to, but seeking out that communication just feels wrong to me. Also, if it's possible to communicate beyond the grave, I don't see why it wouldn't also be possible to impersonate someone from beyond the grave. It's just not something I want to touch.

The Bible does talk about how we are not to play around with things like this. It only makes a difference if you are believer though. Satan is perfectly capable of fooling us with his message. There is no way I dabble in mysticism.

I think some people are sensitive and it can be construed as being psychic. I've had "premonitions" I used to get a feeling every time someone would tell me they were pregnant not anything I would really think at the time necessarily, just a feeling. It was very hard to respond to someone's announcement that they were pregnant if I got the feeling they would miscarry. I was always right and it was not a lot of fun. I actually think I prayed for this "gift" to leave and I don't get the feelings anymore. I was not psychic, just sensitive I think.

I also had thoughts and feelings telling me my mother wouldn't be with us much longer the last few times I saw her. It wasn't anything that I could have changed, but it did make a difference in how I thought.

I agree with the you on the paying thing. I don't think that the ones who are "gifted" will actually charge money....

I think some people use their "gifts" for good--and of course there are those who use it for harm and/or profit. I think that sometimes God may use others to give messages to the living from "beyond".

In the instance of my daddy---I think God gives him premonitions so that my dad can prepare himself so that he can attempt to be a comfort to the grieving family. My dad preaches a wonderful funeral. Families find such comfort in his demeanor, presence and words in a very difficult and trying time.

One more of my opinions and then I'm done: While I agree in theory that when people die they are taken in to Heaven; I think that sometimes due to manner in which they died they aren't at peace. I think that until they are at peace they don't rest. I think restless spirits can and do "hover" around the living.

Marilyn....I really don't know what I think any more, but what you just said made some sense to me. When my student was murdered last year, I felt like he was visiting me for a while. I had been told by his Mom that I had touched his life.

The day I went to his wake, I did not stay and follow for the burial. The people I had gone with wanted to leave as they said I was way to upset and they were worried. I left with them

. I had to go do some of my part time work that day. I changed clothes and went to work. I was feeling awful for not going to the burial and not seeing his mom that day at the wake. AS I was leaving one of the stores I service, I looked across the road and saw the funeral coming down the other side, heading to the grave site. It was like magic.....my daughter said turn around and I did. I was able to see his mom and have closure that was longing inside of me.

Fast forward.... You know his name was Four, and a few nights after he passed, I was having horrible nightmares! I would find myself almost jolted out of my sleep and look at the clock. One night it read 4:04 a.m. and he other it was 4:44. When I woke, I swear I felt that little boy all around me. My mom sort f laughed at me about this, she is very doubtful of such things....two days later she called me all worked up saying she woke from a sound sleep, as if jolted awake.....looked at her clock for some reason and it was 4:44 a.m. She said she told him to go back to My house!

On the other hand.....I just lost a very dear friend. We had talked on the phone most every day for 25 years. She was told 2 years ago that she had 6 months max to live. She had mesothelioma. She lived a year and a half longer that she was supposed to. The day she told me, I started to cry.....she told me that we were not going to cry, that God would heal her.

I have never met such a positive person in my life. She kept me grounded! She lived as if she was not sick every day for two years. The last 2 weeks, she was too ill to talk and I started to feel the loss. The day she passed, about an hour before I got the call, I did get a feeling. I was sitting watching t.v. and I said out loud, I think she is gone. I was very sad and went to shower.....my daughter came to the bathroom door and told me her husband had called and she was gone.

I began to sob, and I heard my friend say...."Sherri, we are not gonna cry". I have not seen or heard from her since and I was angry about it. I wondered why Four came around and she is not. Maybe because of what you are saying.....she is at peace.

Gosh, I don't have any answers and sorry this was so long. I am just trying to make sense of it all..

Not to sound like a broken record but for me personally while I believe when we die part of out spirits go to heaven , yet for me part of your spirit stays around, again my personal belief. I also totally believe in guardian angels and I always feel know that my brother Sonny is my guardian angel to keep his family safe. There have been so many occurances that have happened since my brother passed away I know I feel his presence and no one can tell me anything else. 2 cases I wil discuss, when I was younger like most people I was deadly afraid of my appendix bursting true story from hearing that people died and the pain and the poison would spread through your body I wanted my out and every single time I would get a odd pain on my lower right side I would freeze in fear this is it my appendix will burst and I always worried about the doctors touching me in that area as I feared it would hurt and burst my appendix. Okay fast forward to 5/3/04 this is the day before my brother passed 5/4/02 that day started out normal but by night time I was having this pain , now it was not a extremely bad pain but it was there okay so I have to go to the bathroom did and pain still there. I took advil and used the heating pad if I walked or moved around it hurt more. So I decided first to go to my doctor and he took some blood and said my white cells were high meaning a infection also I did have a slight fever. So now its the day 5/4/04 and being a women it could be alot of things. He said to my husband take her to the hospital and I was sooooooooo scared I hate the hospitals. Needless to say after the ultra scan there is was a slighty swollen appendix had to come out. NOw here is where is really gets freaky it now time for the new staff in the emergency room, the new doctor comes in and shakes my hand and says Hi I am Dr. Peter Danielson my brothers real name was Peter Daniel. OKay I felt better but then he tells me your truly in no danger its only slighty swollen but I said I want it out now I am afraid it will burst. Do not worry he tells me we have some people before you so now its like 6 at night and they tell me probably about 10. I was so upset and crying all of sudden the doctor comes over and said we moved you up. you will be going up soon and to be prepared for surgery. Needless to say as they brought me in and starting everything before I closed my eyes I looked up at the clock and said Sonny please take care of sister and made all go well and the time on the clock was 8:45. My brother Peter Daniel passed away on 5/4 at 8:45. He was with me the whole time and this is why I believe in spirits and guardian angels. Peace to all. Catherine
