Your car history

Just for fun - what cars have you owned and which was your favorite? Here's my list:

First car:
Red Toyota Starlet - it was a good first car. They don't make them anymore. It lasted for 105,000 miles which is pretty good, given that I didn't know you had to replace the oil regularly. I think I changed it about 5 times, at most.

Second car:
Maroon Toyota Celica - it was a fun car, but a little big for me. Someone ran into me and totaled it. Fortunately, I wasn't hurt.

Third car:
Blue Acura Integra: My favorite car. I had it 13 years and 150,000 miles. I wish I could get it back. I decided it was time to let it go when the cost to repair it exceeded $2,000. I hope he's still out there somewhere. They don't make them anymore.

Fourth car:
Jade Green Acura RSX: Nice car. I like it, but the visibility isn't great. They don't make them anymore. Notice a theme?

* I finally learned how to take care of a car when I took a class. It was given by Ray Magliozzi, who does the radio show "Car Talk." It was fun and informative.

1st car-- Black Buick Skylark. I loved the car. But it died it had a little over 200,000 miles

2nd car-- beige Kia Sephea. It was a cute car, but it was a lemon. After 9 months, the dealer got tired of me bringing it in for something to be fixed, so they told me to come in and gave me my 3rd car.

3rd car--- Green Ford Taraus- it was a good car, I kept it till it died

4th car-- Blue Chevy Cavalier--this was a cute and sporty car, but ended up being too small for 3 kids in the back seat

5th car-- beige Nissan Maxima--it was a car that got me where I needed to go. I hated it, it was constantly breaking and I ended up replacing 3 starters in it.

6th and current car-- Silver PT Cruiser-- I love love love my car. It has enough space for me, its great on gas, and has very low milage

First Car: Black Mitsubishi Elipse...fun little car. No turbo but fun. I sold it after my first baby to a teenager who was thrilled

2nd car: Ford 150: we still have it and DH drives it. There is always a need for someone in the family to have a truck. We've used it to move family, us, friends, haul rock...you name it

3rd car: Honda Odessey mini van: great for the kids but we got a lemon. Had to have the side door motors replaced 3 times. We traded it in

4th car: Toyota Matrix: great on gas but WAY too little for hauling kids. I didn't feel safe. Traded it in after 1 year (along with the mini van) to buy our Dodge

5th car: Dodge Magnum: LOVE IT! It's known for bad tie rods (have to get them replaced) so we've had 3 sets of tires but the thing drives so nice...kicks @ss (thanks to a V8). We still have this and DH and I take turns driving it

6th car: Chevy Tahoe: just got this used last Nov for my business. It's my primary vehicle. Comfy and pretty decent on gas considering it's a V8. We're taking our first vacation trip in it this next week so we'll see how it goes. So far, so good.

So we have a Ford F150, a Dodge Magnum, a Chevy Tahoe and a Honda motorcycle (that's DH's, not mine). All are paid for except the Tahoe...which I think is pretty good. We'll probably let our son drive the truck once he gets his license (he's 11 now but we are planners LOL)

1st car: maroon Ford Granada - it was my great grandfather's car when I got it and was older than I was. I hated it, but I could fit all my friends in it.

2nd car: red Honda CRX - LOVED this car - drove it for 4 years and had just paid it off when my younger sister totaled it while I was on vacation in Mexico

3rd car: black Saturn (sporty, but can't remember exactly what it was) - drove it for 3 years, paid it off, then totaled it myself

4th car: red Ford Explorer - leased it for 3 years

5th car: silver Ford Explorer Sport - drove it for 3 years, then DH traded it and his truck in for a different truck as I was driving a company car then

6th car: Black Ford Taurus - company car - drove for 1 year

7th car: silver Chrysler 300 - company car - LOVED IT - drove it for about 1 1/2 years until I left that company

8th car: blue BMW 3-series convertible - I've had it for 2 years, but it's getting a little too small for us. I'm looking at going back to outside lab sales, which will give me a Nissan Altima as a company car. If I don't do that, we are buying a 2011 Kia Sorento. We don't have car payments today and I am so freaked out by the cost/payments of the Sorento. If we get it, we will do the 36 months 0% interest, which will put our payments at almost $1,000 per month. YIKES!!!!!

There you have it - my car history!!!

1st car was a 71 Chevy Nova used but got a smoking deal $1000 and that included all new tires. I had it 3 years then gave it to my teen brother.
2nd car was a 1987 Chevy Cavalier which I bought brand new(thought I was cool with my own new car in my name only-LOL) had it 12 years(AC went out and you have to have AC in AZ)
3rd and present car 1999 Chevy Malibu still looks brand new but replaced engine 4 years ago. By far this was the worst of the 3. We had a lot of things fixed and replaced on it.

1st car, maroon 1964 Ford Fairlane stationwagon. My parents gave it to me for my high school graduation in 1976. I wanted a 64 or 65 Mustang but this was a good car and could hold a lot of people.

2nd car, red 1979 Mercury Bobcat. I bought it new, it was a great car. Kept it until 1987 when I had my 1st child and I wanted a bigger safer car.

3rd car burnt orange 1979 Ford Thunderbird. My parents gave me this huge car in 1987 so my baby would be safer. Was like driving a tank.

4th car teal 1995 Ford Thunderbird. We bought it new and loved this car. My 17 year old was in a very low mph accident that totaled it mostly because the airbages deployed and they are so expensive to replace. It was 1994 and it only had 60,000 miles on it and looked brand new.

5th car gold new 2000 Ford Windstar. This is the biggest piece of junk we have ever owned. I grew up in a Ford only family but I don't think I will ever buy another one. This van had one huge problem after the other.

1st-1993 Ford Thunderbird. Was a V8 engine---probably more engine (and speed) than any 17 y/o girl needs. Oh how I loved that car

2nd-I can't remember the name. Was a Dodge though. It was ok

3rd--2001 Saturn SL1, loved that car!

4th-2003 Kia Sephia, yep, twas a lemon!

5th car--2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee XL, pewter in color. Oh how I miss that Jeep. X took it in the divorce (along w/ the personalized license plates that were MINE--and my Harley floor mats) but it's ok. I have everything else from the marriage, plus access to a REAL Harley!

What I drive now---1993 Maroon Jeep Cherokee. Did you know that the bumpers in 1993 were still made of steel? I didn't either until I backed into the X's Jeep. His front bumper was fiberglass. $3000 later he learned that when someone divorces you? You probably shouldn't park in their driveway when you come to pick up the kids! LOL (and it truly was an accident--I was running late, didn't think he parked in the driveway, and didn't bother to look, was my driveway after all!)

I have owned 18 cars in my life, too many to list, we own 4 vehicles now. I would have to say I had 3 favorites. My most favorite in this order:

1. 1967 Mustang- bought in 1981 as a college graduation gift to myself, totally refurbished it, sold it in 1993. Had over 200,000 miles. Nothing like driving a 8 cylinder vehicle! I loved this car!

2. Fiat Spyder convertible also owned this right after I graduated from college, kept it for a couple years then traded it for something more practical.

3. Chevrolet Colorado truck this is what I drive now, I love this truck!

It's easier for me to remember if I go backwards.
Right now I have a Blue Ford Escape (2007)
Before that I had a 1999 Silver Ford Escort.
Before that a Blue Ford Tempo I think it was a 92.
Blue Thunderbird early 90s.
Primer grey Camaro 77.
77 "souped up" black hatchback Chevy Nova.
Little green Audi don't remember the year or the model.
Long red Chevy something (now we're going back like 20 yrs so I don't remember the model or year).

Before that my very first "car of my own" was a little white Ford Pinto that had the word "OUTLAW" etched in big letters on the outside of the front windshield. I bought it from a guy for $80 and had it for about three years.

Jujubee I love the Car Talk brothers! They are so funny. I used to listen to them all the time when I drove for work on Sunday mornings.

It's interesting to read everyone's cars. My only two new ones were the Escort and the Escape.

Woohoo.............1981 black corvette? How old were you then?

My list is not as long~~
First car was a 1971 Vega (anyone remember those?). I was a kid, it was a car, and my sister and I thought it was great.
1976 Mustang
1987 Samuri Suzuki (fun car for a young college girl)
1990 Cherokee
1992 Cherokee Laredo (this was my favorite and nicest vehicle......5 speed, fun to drive)
1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager
(Not exactly the most fun, but with kids, it's the only choice)

I'm at a stage now where I want more of a fun car again. A girl can dream!

I'm going to list just cars that were mine--not anything I had while I was married for 23years--so, it won't be very long.
In high school--1968 Delta 88 that was equipped to be used as an unmarked police car. I am clueless as to why my Dad gave it to ME!!!

College gradution--1979 new silver Honda Civic--one of the very small ones

Right after my divorce--2000 blue Mustang. I still have it and adore it.

Two years ago (when I ended with two grandchildren and another on the way!)--2008 black Highlander.

*Mustang still has a bumper sticker that reads, "Drive it like you stole it." Recently David was driving it and got stopped. The policeman asked, "Well...did you steal it?"
My husband (of 3 years) replied, "No, it's my wife's car. She did!" LOL

1. 1963 Volkswagon bug. It took me to college. Thank god it ran.
2. 1969 Volkswagon bug. I traded up to a newer model.
3. 1975 Saab 99 LE. 5 years of heaven. Then 7 years of maintenance hell.
4. 1987 Toyota Supra. I loved this car. Put 180,000 miles on it.
5. 2002 Toyota Camry Solara. A great deal. Bought slightly used. Runs perfectly.

I have an 05 blue Corolla, and it's all I've ever had (grew up in an area with public transportation, and put a lot of miles on my hiking boots, too). Small but efficient (38 MPG highway), and I discovered today that two big car seats fit just fine in the back.

I used to work with a woman who had a pink Karmann Ghia. She loved that thing. I think she even belonged to the Karmann Ghia club. It was pretty cute!
