Anna I feel for you. The same thing goes on at my house, except he is only off 1 day a week, and that day I swear once I leave for work he must let a bunch of toddlers in and leave them unsupervised for the 8 hours I am gone. the mess starts in one room and continues through the rest of the house. I on the other hand have a cleaning compulsion, I have to go through the house 2-3 times a day and make sure everything is in its place. I can not go out or go to sleep unless the house looks right. Growing up my grandma always told me to always make sure my house looks like I've been expecting company, so that is what I do.. sad thing is no one hardly visits me, my family all live out of state and his family is not allowed in our house

I think the big problem is that when he was growing up his Mom did everything for him he didn't even have to clean his own room. He did do chores and dishes, at times, were his responsibility however nobody ever taught him to clean up after himself.

| DH takes cleaning and straightening up by spells. A while back he decided my vehicle needed cleaning out and proceeded to do it. If I'd done that to his truck he would have a fit. A while back I was gone for 3 days/2 nights. The morning I left I did some ironing and left the iron to cool on the bathroom counter. Guess where the iron was when I got home? Exact same place I'd left it. Kind of PO'd me. |

I do not know If I truly agree its a man thing because between my Husband and my 21 year son they out do each other when it comes to cleaning, I guess I should be lucky lol. I do know from speaking to alot of women and friends and such that there are some men who frankly are out and out pigs never pick up after themselves I personally could never imagine. Then on the other hand I have a female cousin I love her to death and she would be the first to admit she could care less about cleaning and she has 3 sons so go figure. In the end whatever makes you happy, however when a couple is together and are at different ends of cleaning it can get upsetting. Peace. Catherine
