I was able to catch this event this morning. I've been trying to raise Monarchs for the past month or so. The first group of about 20 caterpillars wasn't very successful. Out of 20, only 2 went on to become healthy butterflies. I read that's what happens in the wild as well with only a 10% rate of success.

This butterfly is from our second group of 7. We've had 5 hatch so far and all 5 have been healthy!

Very cool! I "raised" Painted Ladies from caterpillars this spring. It was a little early, so there was nothing outside for them to eat So I gave them orange slices and they seemed to do OK on those. When I saw some flowers blooming, I let the last one go. It was kinda sad watching her fly away.

The political system is broke and it's a joke.

Two of our monarchs came out of their chrysallis today. It was so neat. We have 2 more to go. The kids absolutely loved it!
