Any one watching the sister wives show of TLC? I watched just a little of it, and it really bothers me how much of the show is just whatever the husband wants, and the wives just do what he wants even though they don't want. The commercials all made it sound like the wives were happy with the husband courting a new wife, but when you watch the show, they are not happy to have a new wife, but he wants one, so he will get one. Also, one wife is having another baby just because he wants more, even though she really didn't want any more (he is happy she's having a girl, as he thinks he can try to talk her into yet another pg to try for a boy!). Seems crazy to me. Even the daughters don't seem to care for the life, all say they want to be an only wife.

I watched it on on demand over the weekend just because I was curious as to how they live. I also noticed how it seems to be whatever the husband wants he gets. I don't understand how anyone can be happy in that type of relationship, but then again if they grew up in that type of arrangement they may think that one man and one wife is hard to understand. I wonder if men in that culture would feel differently if the roles were reversed and the women did what they wanted, when they wanted and had as many husbands as they wanted

One word from me Disgusting how in the world does a show like this make in on T>V>. Oh I know money and ratings, there is no way in heaven or hell I would ever ever share my husband with other wifes and we all live in peace under one roof????. Christine hon I was thinking the same thing this man most definitely has his cake and eat it 4 times no less disgusting. Now I know there are people who live this kind of life and I assume if they are all in total agreement with the whole suituation and are harming no one, but still in my eyes it is wrong wrong. I honestly would love to know why is it always the man who has multiple wifes why can it not be one wife and 4 husbands I mean seriously. Again either way would never work for me. I actually find it very degrading to these women, especially the new girlfriend what is she is thinking she seemed very nice and attractive I cannot believe she could not find a man just for herself and her children. I have heard of this new show and wanted to watch, but missed. Is this even legal? I thought I read that the husband may be in hot water over this.

My husband and I love to watch this show although we had to go to bed the other night when it was on so I missed the last half. It's on @ 10pm here.
We think it is very interesting about how they live their lives and how they have different apartments in the home.

I have no desire to live like this, but can see the good and bad about how the relationship would work.

Bigamy is not legal in the US, and it sounds like the husband's being investigated for that.

I don't really see any advantage to having fellow wives, unless you all got together, and pushed the guy off a bridge some day. He does sound kind of irritating.

Most modern day polygamists do no attempt to legally marry more than one spouse. Usually they are married to the first. They have some sort of "religious" ceremony with the others. I believe Utah and some other states DO have laws against cohabitating with more than one person as your spouse - these laws were put in place to protect children. Maybe someone can research - I have to go to work soon!

Technically he is only legally married to the first wife, and not the other ones. So, even though he may state that he is married to the others, he isn't.

Yeah but they all live together and he calls them his wifes and now he is courting a new girlfriend and soon to be married to her totally sick story. If it works for them, then let them live their own life. They are not marrying their children off at 14 nor are they pressuring their children to live the life that they do. To each is his own and as a friend said, sometimes it would be nice to have your husband go to other wife when you just want to be alone!

Have your husband go to another wife so you could be alone??? Seriously again this is not normal and not fair to all the wifes and again it seems like it was nothing for the husband to leave his 3 wifes one pregnant and drive 5 hours to court his new girlfriend never sick and wrong in my personal views and honestly cannot see anyone who would be in this type of suituation never ever. It's not normal to you, but it is normal to them. The women know where the door is if they didn't like it. They stay so they must not have that big of a deal with it. One can not judge someone if they haven't walked in their shoes.

do you really believe that the women, who most likely have been raised in this lifestyle, know they can walk out? And even if they do, do you think they have the resources available to leave? And if they do have the resources for themselves, do you think they can take their children?

These type of "fundamentalist" sects work very hard to subjugate their women. They raise them up from infancy to think that it's ok to be a 3rd, 4th or 5th wife. They teach the boys that women are more property than people. Girls, as young as 13, are married off. Do those "women" 'know where the door is, and have the ability and determination to leave??

Women in the middle East know where the door is too, and they stay--so must not be anything wrong with how they are treated, either....

Amen marilyn exactly all you said and more, these women have no choice and it is so sad to think they are truly in a way forced to live like this not only here in America but so many other countries where women are treated lower then rats literally, they mean nothing just to keep having babies and serve their husbands and then the nerve of their husbands to have other more then one wife sick sick. I had a very wise person once tell me we can't begin to imagine what 'normal' is to some people. Personally? I can't fathom what is going through their mind. Why is there no plural marriage for women? But the questions would fill a 30 acre field, so I guess it's just live and let live huh?

Matt I agree somewhat with the live and let live however on last nights show the first wife Meri was telling her husband Kody that she was thinking of marrying another man and bring him into the family and Kody got all upset and said he could never imagine one of his wifes sleeping with another man, so it is okay for him to sleep with 4 different women but not okay for the women to do the same things. Again this story is unreal I cannot imagine truly imagine how they all get along I could never ever share my husband again these women are so short changing themselves. Peace. Catherine
