I had one great long weekend and would like to share my exciting news with all of you and I am going to try and make it short....It all started Saturday morning, my dad called me he received a certified letter from the girl my brother dated while he was seperated from his wife just before he passed away. Apparently, she was pregnant when he passed away but because of problems with my sister in law my brother never knew that the girl was pregnant. We only knew the girl from meeting her a few times but after she and my brother ended their relationship we had no contact with her. She sent a beautiful letter to my dad apologizing and said that she didn't want to hurt any of us, but wanted us to know that my brother was the father of her 19 month old daughter, Camryn. She asked if my dad would submit to a paternity test so she could receive benefits for the baby and also sent pictures. My dad agreed to take the test, but after seeing the pictures, there is no doubting paternity. The baby looks just like my brother when he was a baby. I found her on facebook and have been chatting with her daily since saturday and can not wait to go meet my neice. Its like we have another part of my brother here with us. The baby was born 26 days after my brother died, and its been a long 19 months without him. It's been a battle with my sister in law to see his son but at least this girl is all for us having a relationship with the baby. The girl told me she was afraid to reach out to us because she wasn't sure how we would react and she is just extremely thankful that we are willing to accept the baby and be a part of her life after everything that has happened. We also told her that we understand that she has a 4 year old from a previous relationship and if it's ok with her, we would also like to treat her other child as if she were our family too, which she was extremely happy beause she said she did not expect or want that at all, all she wanted was for us to acknowledge that Camryn was ours. So I have 2 new neices to spoil and my dad has 2 new granddaughters.

I just read this - what a wonderful situation that became. I can see how that helped make the loss of your brother a little easier to cope with. It's so bitter-sweet, I'm sure you also imagine how much your brother would have loved this new little one.
