I saw this at one of our local lakes yesterday.



On another butterfly note, I'm still raising Monarchs. We had one hatch on Monday and I currently have 3 more caterpillars... butterflies in waiting.



And that's the insect update for the week.

We have a family of them hanging around my house. I'm not sure they got the memo about the Mexico thing. Being from Massachusetts, this whole Florida thing with them in the late Fall is confusing. I was shocked to see caterpillars out there this time of year.

If I'm remembering correctly, we usually don't see butterflies by mid November. Where these were raised at my house, it will be interesting to see if they stay around longer. I hope they leave. Last year's winter here was B. A. D.! There's no way they'd survive one like that.

I'm in Mass - way too cold for butterflies lately!

If you have a family hanging around your house (that you didn't hatch), I suspect they know what they're doing. Maybe your hatchlings will join them for the migration.
