We made our own memory foam mattress for much less than a name brand would have been. We went to a foam warehouse place and created one. They knew exactly what we wanted. They cut us a 5 inch of one type, a 2 inch of another type and a 1 inch of the final type. I don't remember exactly but someone at a place like that in any town should know the recipe. We are pleased with the result, but not all people like foam mattresses. We actually had two made. One is on a platform bedframe in a guest room, so it is just the foam. Ours is on top of an old box spring and on a nicer bed frame. I have slept on both and find the experience the same.

We have a Sleep Number bed and don't really like it, honestly. At first, we got the one with the individual sleep sides, but there was this funky feeling "bar" down the middle. We didn't like that at all, so we got the one that is just one mattress. Although DH and I have the same sleep number and are comfy when we are both in it, you sink a bit if the other person gets up. I am a light sleeper, so that is very disturbing to me. So, can't recommend it....

Wink

Hey there I was going to start a thread about mattress's because ours is super soft and very thick and comfy and about 8 years we paid alot for it. However lately both of us are falling asleep fine but after some hours the aches and pains from sleeping on a too soft of a mattress is hurting our necks, backs and lower backs so much. So sadly it is time to get a firm mattress something new and we really need to take our time to find the right mattress , great post will enjoy reading all the responses and hopefully will get some good ideas on a good firm mattress. Thanks so much. Peace. Catherine
