I just painted mine a while back. Wait until it dries and sand them again. I had painted them in my old house and did not sand first. what a mess! It chipped and peeled. These that I did in the summer are beautiful(rich mahogany brown) and no peeling or chipping. edited....I see that whatever you did is done by now. lol

I'm pretty much 99.9% certain that if you painted with oil based then you'll need to repaint with an oil based paint over that. AND yes, it must be dry before you put another paint over that. I wonder if you could dull it down with a satin clear top coat? I'd go to my paint store and ask them all these questions! They should know your answers. Another thing, you may decide that you like it once it's completely dry.

Hmm I would definitely wait for sure until they are completely dry before I would paint another color on top. Did you refer to the paint store and ask their professional help on the matter , perhaps they can help you. Anyway I sincerely hope all works out for you, good luck. Catherine
