Question TSA Screenings

Has anyone actually gone thru one of these new screeners?? It may have been stated in the other thread, but, I couldn't see where anyone posted that they have gone thru one of these.

Anyone with first hand knowledge??? no pun intended.

I was screened in Boston in May using the "new" screeners. Boston was among the airports that got them early and only some of the lanes used them. I guess I just was lucky. I found nothing horrible about going through it. The choice of having someone "see" me or having them "feel" me is no choice for me. Actually it amazes me when people say they want to opt-out of then new visual screening so that someone needs to feel them makes no sense to me.

There's no question that I'd go through the visual scanner. No way is hell is anyone feeling me all over...UGH! Next thing you know, they'll be requiring a body cavity screening...I'm so sick of this crap! I bet the Taliban is laughing their azzez off at what they've created! I wonder if anyone else has figured out that every time they take away another freedom, the terrorists are succeeding a bit more each time!

I haven't but DH has. He travels a lot. He's been through the scanners 8 or 10 times and says it's no big deal. He doesn't mind.

I think I'd go for the pat down - but only because I've had a zillion xrays and radiation therapy. I figure I need to avoid it as much as I can. On the other hand, I haven't really researched it enough to know exactly how much radiation you get. Guess I'll do that before my next plane trip!

I have around 12-15 times in the last 6 months. I have also gone through during my "girl time" without incident.

I had to refuse a few months ago. I was at an airport that has both metal and xray and I was in the metal line. They pulled me out to do the xray, but my laptop was already halfway through the metal one and I cannot lose sight of my laptop due to the nature of my job. So, I got the "pat down" and they kept asking me was I sure the only reason I refused to get out of line was because of my laptop. I get pulled out a lot because I usually make one way, last minute flights. But, the checks they did on me, my laptop, and my carry-on bag was extra thorough. Not a big deal to me.

I had the scanner done in May at the newish Indy airport. It was a slow day and they randomly picked me. Seriously there was no one else going through security at all.
It was painless. The woman doing the scan chatted with me. I had on a shirt I had made and she sewed too so we talked about sewing the whole time.

When I got patted down at NOLA airport I left my laptop behind. I had to have it FedExed to work. I got flustered and forgot to pick it up after I was searched.

I went through a scanner in NYC. It happened so fast I just didn't have my wits about me to say no I'll get patted down but that will never happen again. I don't want any extra radiation Lord knows I get enough just living.

When you conplained earlier about ALLthe obtrusive pat downs you have had, I didn't know that you requested them.

I didn't that was the only time I was put through the scanner and I would have requested a pat down but it happened so fast I didn't have time to think. The rest of the times I was not given a choice.

I will opt out because I can't get through a scan and will end up doing both. The way the pat downs are described, I probably can't pass that either, which means every time I fly, I'll probably end up in a private room getting at least partly undressed. I haven't flown in a year and the pat downs then were nothing, so I'm not sure I want to fly anymore. I guess if I have to I'll go. But it'll have to be something important.

There are at least two reasons a person would opt out of the body scanner.
1) another dose of radiation when we're already subjected to much radiation in daily life.

2) there is no telling what they will do with the images. I've worked enough places in different capacities to know that privacy and confidentiality are often a joke. The employees joke about the clients/customers. It's a natural human way of decompressing from the busy day.

Perhaps this is why I keep getting "randomly" pulled aside and searched.

Proof Positive: "TSA Agents Singled Me Out For My Breasts"

This is not the first article I've read that says that attractive large breasted women are singled out.
