computer help please....

This morning, all of a sudden, ie started acting up. I would open a window and I would get a popup box saying:

Internet Explorer has stopped working:
a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

It keeps looping that way. I ran ccleaner and rebooted and it's still doing that. No problem with firefox. (what I'm using now)

any help?

I tried to do a system restore but it stops and says my anitvirus program needs to be disabled and I don't know how to do that.

I'm not sure what the problem is sorry I can't help but to disable your antivirus program there should be a button that says disable you can click.

Did you google to see if there is a fix? I would google the error message first if no luck I'd specifically google the problem.

I stick with Firefox all the time at home and on my work computer.

I undid Norton and did a restore but that didn't help anything. When i google the problem it says something about disabling add-ons. I'm leery about doing that because I don't want to do something that I might need later. I don't want to mess my computer up any farther.

Try downloading Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and doing a full scan. Sounds like malware or spyware might be causing your problem. I use Firefox about 95% of the time and don't have problems like I get using IE. You can download Malwarebytes' for free here:

If you don't find any spywaye try this.Go to Internet Options ,click on Advanced Tab, then at the bottom click Reset ,which will reset your Internet Explorer settings.
Now try to launch Internet Explorer. If it works, you will find your addons disabled. To reenable them just click Tools, then Manage Add-ons.Anything that is under Toolbars and Extensions that is disabled that you want enabled just click on it highlighting it, then down below click Enable and they will be enabled again.

My vote is for Firefox, for security, and because of the number of cool things you can add to it, though I'll note that that kind of error tends to show up after making software updates. Google says dollydeal's fix will probably work, but all the threads I can see on this issue are from 2007 or 2008 . . . it's time to update your browser!
