Dropped my Kindle in the bathtub... The rice worked!

I don't know if any of you are aware of this trick, but wanted to pass it along. Last weekend (Thanksgiving weekend), I dropped my Kindle in the bathtub, which was full of water. AACKCKK! I pulled it right out but the damage was done. I dried it off, then put it in a ziploc bag of rice for 3 full days. I've used this method for a cell phone, but wasn't sure it would work for the Kindle. Anyway, I took it out and plugged it in to recharge. Nothing. I figured it was ruined and was kicking myself. I set it on the desk for 3-4 days and looked up repairs. It was going to be expensive and nothing was a sure thing. Man, I was disappointed. Then, yesterday, I looked at it and it was back on - just showing the books I had. I tried to click on one, but it turned off. I charged it again over night and IT WORKS TODAY! I am super excited. So..... if you drop your Kindle in water, don't despair. Put it in the rice and give it time.

It worked for my daughter's phone last year, too. I think the dryness of the rice pulls the moisture out...yet the rice is big enough not to get into the phone. IDK...just my guess.

It will dry out with time, anyway.

Funny, Anna! Somehow I doubt it..... lol

I read somewhere else that you should put your Kindle in a plastic ziploc bag if you are reading it by the pool. Definitely a good tip and one I will use!

No, but your blow dryer on a low setting or paper towels between the pages will.
