Wink Any new years resolutions , anyone care to share thanks so much

Well I have some 2 are food , I always each year stop one food or drink from my daily food intake, whether for for personal or health reasons. This year I have done 2 foods and they are regular butter in fact any and all no substutes either. I have also decided to stop using regular sugar in my tea this one is a really hard one because I am a huge tea drinker. I have gone to equal so far so good and only one bag is enough I cannot believe it, and to me it tastes like real sugar and no after taste like all those other artificial sweetners. For the butter replacement I have taken on more flavored cream cheese spreads but very little and alot of jellies and jams so much more healthier and better for losing a few pounds. Another resolution I have added this year is too exercise more and with that I added walking up my 2 fleights of steps in my home 20 times 10 times each up and down. Finally I decided to step it up and spend some more time with my aging parents as time is flying by too quickly and as in 2 years I will be 58 and they will be 81 I want to spend more time with them and so we have dinner nite out every wednesday nite and they love it so much and to see them smile it makes the extra time all worth it. So please kindly share and again peace and healthy wishes in the New Year 2011 ... Catherine

I'm not as ambitious as you. Mine are not to let dishes sit in the sink overnight and to record all we spend on non-essentials. That's an eye-opener already! (We went to the movies last night. We haven't been in ages. My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw that a large popcorn was $8 and a medium soda was $5.50!)

One of mine is the opposite of yours...lol. No artificial sugar substitutes. I want only real sugar.

The other two are to de-clutter the house and stop hoarding. I already got rid of 24 big 30 gallon bags of clothes, bedding, etc. and last is to stop wasting money on so many clothes. I had way too much.....3 closets and dressers crammed full. It is crazy.

GG I am doing away with the sugar for the calories because I have talked to so many people about how many calories are in the sugar in my tea so I will hopefully see a difference, I am also doing it because as I get older and I worry about the onset of diabeties which my mom was affected by at 51 and I will be 48 on 4/20 so it is for 2 reasons. As far as hordering I am there with you as well, but again the decor and taste of my home which is a unique mix of what I now call Country really Old French Cottage Shabby Romantic Chic calls for me to collect alot of items.. guilty as charged for sure. However I love my home and all it contains but I do have alot of stuff as well oh and yeah pocketbooks between me and my daughters well that is another story, however I literally have purchased so many at ridiciuous prices from garage and tag sales and only a true women can understand those issues lol.

Mine is to start saying NO to people when I really can't do something instead of pushing what I want / need to do to the side to help someone else. This is going to be hard for me because I have a hard time doing it.

I usually don't make resolutions, but did this year for the challenge!! So far, so good!!

I will go from my usual 4 days a week of working out to 6. I honestly feel a huge difference in those 2 days!

The other is to track all of our spending a little more carefully. I was so shocked and disgusted when I added up all the dinners we ate out last year. I've promised myself (DH is the one I have to restrain from doing it!), that we will not eat out more than 4 times a month. Our average last year was 16 days a month. No wonder I had so much meat leftover at the end of the year! (We live on a farm and raise all of our own, so I had a full cow, 2 hogs, 25 chickens, and a lamb)

The other, is to be a better friend. I kind of felt like with our hobbies, we had drifted from some very good friends. We'd talk, but it just wasn't the same as spending time with them. We have a lot planned with many of them coming up!

Any excercise anyone does even if it is a little bit each day and each day you add just a few more minutes it will do a world of good for your overall health and well being and especially for your heart and circulation. So to whomever as thought about exercise or to increase the minutes each minute counts you will reap the benefits for sure good luck.... Catherine

Mine was to not be so inappropriate, I failed the first day.

I also swear this year I will see Pearl Jam as many times as I can! And I always say that, every year, but darnit I only got to see them three times last year. I figure with it being the 20th anniversary of Ten and a year long celebration of plans in the works, hopefully I can see them a few more times this year! 3 is not enough! Ok I did get to see Eddie Vedder once last year too.

That's my resolution. Seriously.

Hey Catherine!! I haven't been on here in a while, great post! I really want to stop being so judgemental. I've noticed lately how quick I am to pass judgement, and it makes me sick of myself. I remember the old saying believe nothing that you hear and only half of what you see. So true. More times than not, things are never as they appear.

Like so many others I want to quit spending so frivolously! We waste so much money on fast food, clothes we don't need, stops at Sonic for drinks, etc. UGH! Wasteful!!!

I need to quit eating junk food, waste time, not work so much, etc. But I want the critical thinking I've made a habit to END.

(Gold star to afurrything about Pearl Jam! LOOOOOVVVVEEEEEE the song Crazy Mary. You go girl!)

Love ya Catherine! Best wishes to everyone here on their resolutions!

Good luck to everyone with your resolutions!

Wow where do I begin ladies first to Brownsugargirl soooooooo happy to see ya posting another familar sweet caring person welcome back please stick around . I agree about the spending that is why I stick to garage and tag sales I would never ever ever spend full prices. At stores I always shop clearence he is my favorite person ha ha at the stores . I have noticed the stores are offering such amazing savings almost everything here at least is between 60-80 percent off fantastic. As far as eating out we honestly only do it rarely because me and my one daughter is a vegetarian and the other is a total vegan however she no longer lives at home but visits enough to still eat here. And since my son Thomas has all his stomach problems is dietary needs have to be met, and my husband has jumped on the healthy wagon so it is better I cook all the food we love and it is more healthy and less costly for us as a family.. Annadrose, loved your new years resolution as well. And finally Newfun eating more veggies and fruits is wonderful to hear. Right now I am on a huge Activa Yogurt Kick love the stuff cannot get enough of it and it really does work well for your digestive system so many flavors to choose from. Thanks to all so far and blessings in the New Year. Catherine

I always buy on sale, never, ever pay full price for much of anything, especially clothes, BUT, with that being said, I still go too crazy when there are great clearance/sales! I over buy just because it's an awesome sale....so I need to stop that.

I could absolutely benefit from eating more fruits and veggies too!

I love the V8 Fusion Pomegranite Green Tea with only 50 calories a serving. It gives you some of your daily veg/fruit requirement and is really tasty! I cannot tolerate V8 vegetable juice at all-just the thought of it almost makes me ill. But the V8 fruit/teas are really good.

Kts I love tomato juice squeezed with a bit of lemon one of my favorites, although like you said not alot of people can drink it. I also love to drink Pom Pom which is the pomergranite juice I also drink alot of the acqi juice which is sooooooo healthy. Honestly I could drink all juices I love all fresh fruits and use my juicer machine to sqeeze all kinds of juices to only get 100 percent juice with no sugar just the whole fruit. Again so glad to see you posting missed ya... Catherine

Thanks! I will pick that up. I do like the spicy V8, so that is another way I can get my servings. I actually drink Spicy Bloody Mary mix, too. I need to look at that and see what I'm really drinking, though! Right now, I'm drinking a smoothie that I think probably has 3 servings of fruit in it. I put 1/2 cup of oj (fresh squeezed), 1 banana, 10 or so blueberries, a container of yogurt, a tablespoon of flax seed, and about 8 strawberries. Very filling and healthy, I think.

The ones I care to share are to get back on track with my exercise and healthy eating plan. It totally derailed the last 2 months while I was working 3rd shift but now that I'm back on days I need to get back in the swing.
On the plus side, I did eat healthy and go to the gym almost 5 days a week for 6 months straight and it made a HUGE difference in my weight and overall health. Luckily I only gained a pound or 2 over my break so all is not lost.

I joined the Y and plan to work out 3-4 days a week. Also no drinking soda. I may only have it with Pizza. Lost 8 pounds so far, so that is a plus!
