Ready for more snow???

So, is everyone in the path of the predicted storm ready? I wonder if it will actually be as bad as the are saying it will be. Reading on weather.com this morning and was pretty surprised at what the predictions were. We are heading South again and are thankful....we should just miss it.

We are. It's drizzling now. It's supposed to turn to freezing rain later. Overnight to snow and they're predicting a foot or more and blizzard conditions tomorrow into Wednesday morning.

I get so tired of these forecasters. They're sensationalizing it so much....supposedly the biggest storm in 20 years. I guess we'll see. I have a tough time believing them when they cry wolf everytime it snows! It's winter in the midwest! That's what it does!

Unhappy

NOooooooooooooooooooo , we have had enough, the mountains of snow all around it has become very dangerous enough is enough. Sadly here is NY we still have until April until we are safe from snow and yet it already snowed on April 17 a couple of years ago...Done with this weather for sure........Catherine

We are ready and waiting, but it can't possibly be as bad as the ice storm we had one year ago (right now at this same time) where we had no electricity for 7 days.

The ice and snow is supposed to start tonight. We have an alternative heat source, a camping stove and propane to cook with (on the covered back porch), a grill and charcoal, flashlights and lots of batteries and candles. Stocked up with plenty of food, need to pick up another loaf of bread when I head out to the basketball game this afternoon, but that's about it. Basically just waiting for tonight.

Yes, Chicagoland is in the path of this storm. They're saying anywhere from 18 to 24 inches.
We'll know if the predictions are accurate in about 24 hours or so. They already are calling for half day of school tomorrow. They never cancel school here, so we will see.

I live in Maryland near DC. We had missed all the weather in the last couple of weeks. Then Jan. 18 we had an ice storm that closed schools. Then Jan. 26 we got about 8 inches of heavy wet snow which brought down trees and wires. We were out of school for 3 days. Many people did not have power for several days. We were out for 18 hours. One of my students and her family had carbon monoxide poisioning from a generator. Now we are expecting another ice storm and more power outages. School is two hours delayed.

We are having blizzard like conditions here in Oklahoma. I think we have about 8 or 9 inches of snow so far, 50 MPH hour winds, 8 degrees, -16 wind chill, the snow drifts are as tall as me (I am 5'7") and we are under a state of emergency. Pretty much everything is closed, schools, state and public offices, most stores. The only thing open are a few restaurants, Walmart and Goodyear and the hospitals. Vehicles are stuck everywhere, there are people stuck in their vehicles on the interstate that they are having to call the National Guard out to come and rescue.

Its been snowing lightly here all day. Tomorrow we are looking at another 12-18 inches. We have a ton on the ground now. Its also been bitterly cold here, with many days having trouble getting into the single numbers. I know when you live in Maine, you should expect true winter weather, but at this point....I think us Mainers have had enough!

The difference is you guys are prepared for that type weather and used to it, just like if you were to have 110 degree weather and no rain for 30 days, we would be totally used to that but you guys wouldn't.

We are just not used to the -20 wind chills we are going to have tonight, it just doesn't get that cold here. People do not have snow tires, as it rarely snows, maybe a couple inches 2 or 3 times a winter, which is one of the reasons we live here and people can't drive in it, lol. However, alot of people do have 4X4's as this is cattle country and the land of SUV's and pickup trucks.

We're expecting up to 15 inches by the time this is over. I hate winter.

Here in Western Oregon we got robbed this year! Only one day over a month ago with some snow and even though it's in the 20s right now not a drop of snow! I know it's a hardship when it really storms but we would like at least a little bit here.

Red face

Today was our 4th day off , so a 4th snow day off of work, first they called at 5:50 a.m. to say we were going to have a 2 hour delay, then they called back at 6:30 to say it went from a 2 hour delay to school closing. However we are not getting snow but we are getting alot of nasty ice mixed with rain and it is so cold and mix that in with all the snow , needless to say it is a very nasty day out there.. Catherine

I think I got 12 inches of snow. It was the drifting that was the biggest problem. My whole driveway was drifted shut- around 3 feet of snow completely covered it. A good samaritian was going up our street shoveling people out with his snowblower and he helped me. I gave him a nice tip. He said my driveway was the worst of all he'd done! God bless him! I'm so grateful!

Crazy Blizzard conditions in the midwest. Kids missed three days of school this week. There have only been THREE snow days in the past 11 years, and they got three snow days this weeks! The kids loved it at first, but realize that at least two of those days will be added on in June.
