| Need advice on living in cincinnati,oh area
My husband may be taking a job offer in cincinnati, so I have been trying to find nice areas for families with kids to live in, and trying to compare the cost of living (houses, foods,taxes,etc....). I have read so many blogs my head is starting to spin. I really need help with a neighborhood, we have 3 kids so I have found Mason, Fairfield, and Loveland. I don't want a ton of trafic, but not looking for a rural area either. I need convenience to shopping, events, and so on. I am also trying to find info. on shopping. I am frugal, so I am looking for coupon friendly stores, bread outlets, thrift stores,etc.....Plus anything else I may be missing about this area. TIA~ Michelle |

My best advice would be to look at schools first, then pick your community based on which schools you think are best. Don't know how old your kids are, but do look at the high school in particular. Before you know it, your kids are already in high school.

I agree with the above advice. Check out your schools and cost of living first. One thing to be wary of with Loveland is that another school district around there is having BIG money trouble and if they don't get a levy passed soon, the state is talking about dissolving the school district into neighboring districts which will add additional burden to the Loveland schools. I have heard that a lot of people want to live in Mason and Anderson for the schools, especially the high schools (Mason and Forest Hills schools). You may also want to consider commute time. Fairfield is a bit further out than Mason if you are commuting to the city. Around here, the main grocery stores are Kroger and Meijer. There are also Rempke and IGA stores in some areas, and of course we have WalMarts. Of the areas you mentioned, Loveland is the closest to where I live. I can't tell you much about it because there has never been a reason for me to go there, as there is more shopping, etc. in my area. The Mason area is close to Kings Island, and there are a lot of stores, but there is also quite a bit of traffic in some areas to go along with it. I am not as familiar with Fairfield because it takes me about 45 minutes to travel there. I know there are shopping areas out that way, but I'm not sure if they are considered as being in Fairfield or not, and as for traffic, I can't speak as to how congested that area might be. |
