I don't know about the Nook, but my kindle is awesome. It is good if you are a book reader. The screen is black and white. It has wi-fi and you can load thousands of free kindle books in seconds. My husband bought me the cover with a light ($60) and it is the best thing ever! I keep it in my purse and read all the time. I wouldn't trade it for anything...
I have read 5 books since Christmas. I have only charged the battery 3 times since Christmas using the light for most of my reading.

I hope you love whichever one you choose.

I have a Nook Wi-Fi (not color) and I love it! I, like dalmatiak, always have mine with me. I got it during the summer and I love that I can read out side, in bright sunlight, with no glare. My library has e-books for check out and I think one of my favorite things is that I no longer have to go to the library - I just reserve and download my books from home. I can also read pdf files. You can add an additional memory card. I will be doing that soon so I can add my music to it. Yes, you can use your nook as an mp3 player. It has games (I've used) and many other extras.

I ended up buying a kobo, I tried many other e-readers out and found the ones with lcd sccreens like the nook, literati or Sony too hard on my eyes after awhile. I really recommend E-ink like the kobo or the kindle have. I choose the kobo because i didn't want to have to fight all the proprietary issues with the kindle. i have heard stories of amazon removing books from individuals because they had a fight with the publisher or author with no warning. a book was there one day then it was gone. Magically removed.I can download many formats from any company with out a problem. Also the kobo has fewer buttons to get in the way and I find it simpler to use.The battery life is also excellent because it uses e-ink. And I have nearly 700 books on mine ( comes with 100) with plenty of memory left. Correct me if I am wrong but you can get additional memory for all the e-readers.

Thanks for the feedback. Both my daughter and I love to read and last week we went an hour from home to the nearest B&N to look at the Nook and have hands on to see how it feels and see what all it could do and what the print looked like, etc. I bought us each one and we LOVE it. I have only found one problem with it, it is too easy to buy books now! Before I used to have to get dressed and drive to Borders, the nearest book store, when I was wanting to buy a book. Now I can sit here in my PJ's any time of the night or day and order books . But I do go through mypoints to order at B&N and get 10 points per $ so that is how I have justifed buying so many books.
