I have to agree with you on this one. It really is a sad state of our economy. There are problems everywhere whether you are talking about teachers, unions, Wall Street, or whatever. But for people to cry that teachers are the ruination of our economic system is a joke.

ETA: the problem is that when things don't show an immediate profit in this society they are not considered "valuable". If people realized what the true cost is of raising a country of idiots is and how much cheaper it would be to pay good teachers a decent wage, they would be more than happy to pull the money out of their own pockets for their own children. Until then we have more important things to worry about like Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, taking away peoples' rights and the like.
