While I understand the point you are trying to make (that this is just a minuscule portion of the total budget) the fact of the matter is that $100 million is A LOT of money. If we can cut it in some places that is money saved. I mean if you could get a coupon for $60 off your electric bill, property taxes, or mortgage it would not be that much money in the grand scheme of your total annual budget but would it not be welcome?
And I'm not saying I agree or not with this budget proposal I'm just saying that although it may not be a big portion of the total budget it's a good start.

Oh, I don't disagree that $100M is a lot of money. But I do agree with his point - that because such ginormous numbers don't computer with us very well, politicians can throw out numbers that sound grandiose and look like they are really doing a lot to fix a problem... when in reality, in the grand scheme of things, it's actually more of a token gesture.

What I appreciated seeing in that video was the visual explanation of how much money is committed thru SS, Medicare, and Medicaid that is pretty much 'fixed' in comparison to the programs that *could* be on the chopping block.

I also appreciated the visual of how much of our total expenditures are able to be funded by tax revenue in comparison to the amount we must borrow.

That is really what struck me more than his message about the $100M.

And I think we all know, no matter where our political beliefs are, that the amount of money wasted by fiscal irresponsibility and bureaucracy at all levels of government is a big reason we are so far in debt.
Entitlements are a big piece also but I feel we have to be careful about how we treat our senior citizens and our children.
