I am due to get a new phone this summer. I need a good phone for texting. I have service with T-Mobile. I currently have a Motorola ROKR which is not a good phone for texting, haven't had a new phone in 2 years. So my question is what is easier to use for texting a phone with a keyboard or one of the touchscreen phones?

I have used both and prefer the keyboard. Sometimes on the text screen you hit the wrong spot on the screen. I am ready for a new phone, but, just got this one in December.

The only way I like a touch screen is if I can use the swype texting. I LOVE it!

| I have this too and like it......I wish I wasn't so cheap...my hubby has the new 4G sprint phone and he is lucky to have the apps. I wish I had that. (his work pays though) so I just got the rumor touch and added internet for $7.00/mo to my plan. I was thinking about going elsewhere, but I like sprint

I was wondering if the touch screen was too sensitive for texting? My phone now is a partial touch and it's very sensitive, but it's not touch for texting, it's push button once, twice, three times for the corresponding letters, a real pain. It's touch or scroll for doing anything else and I use the touch for everything else, so I like the touch features on my current phone. But a keyboard just looks like it would be easier?

| Swype App Makes Texting on Android Phones a Breeze It means you don't have to lift your finger when typing. Simply swipe your finger over the letters and let go when the word is done. The algorithm is pretty sophisticated and looks at things like finger position, finger motion (acceleration / deceleration), pauses and statistical probabilities to figure out what word you are trying to type.
