Anyone else looking forward to watching the Royal Wedding

I have been watching all the specials on the Royal wedding, and have watched the William and Kate lifetime movie about 4 times already. I guess it's the Cinderella like story that has me so into this wedding. I remember watching his parents wedding and telling my father that I wanted a royal wedding lol Since it will be on while I will be getting ready for work and driving to work, I will be recording it on the dvr. Is anyone else going to watch it?

NO!!!! I'm the absolute opposite. I'm so sick of hearing about it I could scream! I have hardly even been watching TV lately because everything is about it. And, I know it's going to be going on well past Friday.

I know someone who lives in London and she said that it's on TV way more here than over there!

I'm not a celebrity lover! I couldn't care less! I'm sick of seing all the Dianna film footage again too. What the heck was so freakinfantastic about Dianna? Maybe if they gave me some of their millions I may change my tune...HA! Not bloody likely!

No. I really don't care about it.

(Diana actually did a lot of charity work - I think that's why a lot of people think she's freakinfantastic.)

I'd think that would be pretty much expected out of anyone in her position.

I think you're right, but I don't know that they go to the extent she did, or were as well loved. She dealt with a lot of different people from so many walks of life; she seemed so well-respected and just loved. I'm sure there was a reason for that.

Also, I don't think the public as a whole liked how Charles handled his situation with her, with the separation and divorce. He made himself look like a weasel, and her more endearing.

I'm sort of torn. I don't want to watch the 100 hours of coverage, but I would like to see the ceremony and her dress. She's a beatiful girl!

Well, at least according to some reports, she went well above and beyond what would be expected of her. Anyway, I don't care if you love her or not. It's just an explanation of why some people think highly of her. Your mileage may vary.

I totally agree. I have ZERO interest in the royal family or the royal wedding

How do they justify spending millions of dollars on a wedding when they have the same economic disaster there as we have here

I'm not at all interested, but will probably be forced to see some of it via news, talk shows, flipping through channels, etc. Ugh. I'll be glad when it's all over and I don't have to hear about it anymore.

Red face

Truly a sincere waste of money, that could go towards feeding all the starving and sick people and children we have all over the world, but again my personal views. Peace and blessings to all... Catherine

Supposedly, the income generated through tourism will exceed the taxpayer cost of the wedding. But, I'm not interested enough to dig deep and convince myself or anyone else of that statement's veracity.

I'm not interested enough to look, either, jujubee, but I do believe it.

And Catherine, while I appreciate the sentiment about using the money to feed and clothe people, I do think it is a little bit short-sighted. Yes, it seems over the top and crazy that such massive amounts of cash are spent on events like this. But the other side of the coin is that the money is spent on goods and services and it is going back into the economy to people who are *working*. A printer somewhere got the job of printing the invitations. Some textile factory was put to work making fine fabric for many dresses and tuxes. Dressmakers and tailors earned their keep. No doubt a huge order was placed for food / catering services, and that means farmers, ranchers, and chefs got the benefit of that money trickling down to them.

And none of that even takes into consideration the goods and services that will be utilized by royal watchers and news people who are descending on the area. My guess is that local restaurant owners and hotels really appreciate the opportunity to have an uptick in patrons if only for a short time.

So yes, it seems frivolous... I get that.

But in the grand scheme of things, events and celebrations bring cash into an economy that is a great *help* to workers and their families. Every penny spent on that event won't just evaporate into thin air and cease to exist. I much prefer to see the royals pour the money into buying goods and services and to have that cash circulating through their local economy than sticking it in the bank. That helps people more in the long run.

Since they're my cousins (yes genealogy is fun when you tie into famous relatives! LOL) I will catch the big event some time during the day.... I'm not into celebs but on a personal level, I would be excited if it was a friend's children starting their new life together so I can be happy for that.

I felt like a princess on my wedding day and it was such a milestone in my life I can only hope the best for them as well. It seems to me they portray her in the press as very stylish and I'd like to see her choice of wedding gown. We have a wedding in our extended family in the coming months so the family has been gathering ideas, shopping and planning that big event for our loved one as well.

William comes across as very genuine and kind hearted. I admire his desire to be treated as normally as possible. They were the first ever royal couple to forego the traditional gift registry and requested only that gifting be made to charities instead. I give that two thumbs up too!

Even if they weren't royal, weren't famous and weren't related, I think simply based on the fact that they are just two normal young people, madly in love about to embark on the most wonderful part of their lives I look forward to sharing their happiness tomorrow. A little love never hurt anyone, why not share it?!

Me too! I'm not watching it, but they are my cousins. Diana and I both go back to the Gallups, so we are distantly related.

I stayed up and watched it and I enjoyed it. I even liked the sermon/homily. She was so beautiful and they seemed so happy and even relaxed. I kept looking at the little flower girl though. I thought maybe she was disabled but I can't find anything on the internet about it. Maybe she will grow into her looks. I sure hope so. I've attached a link and there is just something in her eyes and the shape of her face, etc... that makes me hope she's ok.

I watched bits & pieces of it because no matter what we think of it, a new chapter was added to the history books yesterday.

kathyshopperia: You do realize that you are speaking of THREE year old child? Grace, the child you mentioned, is adorable. Except for her "meltdown" on the balcony, she appeared to be handling everything in a poised manner OR as poised as a three year old girl can do it.

Thanks to a raging migraine that knocked me out around 8pm Thursday, I was wide awake for the royal wedding at 5 am. I started watching it, intending only to view it until I saw "The dress", but I ended up watching the whole thing. I thought it was funny how much like a normal wedding it was- lots of awkwardness among the participants and the guests. Overall, it was a wonderful event, with one exception. I thought Andrew and Fergie's daughters looked so ridiculous; almost like cartoon characters (wicked step-sisters?) It was almost as if they were conveying their dipleasure with their mom's snub with their hideous get-ups. Or maybe thats the way they always look?

Haha! Looked at a couple pictures out of curiosity because I wouldn't be caught dead watching that wedding....I have to say she looks like she could play the creepy little child in a horror movie. But what do they expect from a little kid, that's just what they do best...HA!

Yes, I know she's 3. I actually found other sites where people are wondering the same thing that I am. Yes, she did a great job as all the little ones did. Loved, loved, loved the wedding!

They did look quite gawdy, IMO. You raise a good point, maybe it was there way of expressing their thoughts on their mother not being invited. That is a bit like a slap in the face. I understand she divorced her "prince", but that is awkward for the girls, I would think.

The one girls hat kept reminding me of those Mickey Mouse pencils you can buy that have the top in the shape of Mickey Mouse.

I'm glad it's over....now back to our regularly scheduled broadcast

Can someone explain to me why Fergie did not go to the wedding? Was she not invited?
If so, poor taste.
