Mothers day gift?

What are you getting your Mom for Mother's day this year? Or what would you like to receive this year?

I am just looking for ideas

Thanks!

In the past, I've gotten her all the usual stuff, but she liked best a newspaper subscription, having her vehicle totally detailed, and a couple of nice hanging staghorn ferns. I would have her house cleaned, but #1 it doesn't need it and #2 I don't think she'd allow anyone to come in and do it. I try to think outside the box of typical gifts because she doesn't need "things".

This year, I will see her close to the date so I didn't get anything. I am going to pay attention while there and do something she says or needs.

The immediate thing that comes to mind that I would like to receive is a tank of gas in my truck. Costs about $60 dollars these days and lasts almost a week. Or a gift card to go out to eat since we haven't been able to do that that much since we are spending $500+ a month on gas to get to and from work. Probably won't get either cause none of my kids have any money either, lol, so that's ok, they are in the same situation.

I don't need things! I have everything I need/want.

I am just sending cards, this year, as Mom's real gift will be this summer when both my brother and I and our spouses and children will visit my parents at the same time. We all live in different states, so she is really looking forward to us all being together under her roof. We are also going to do a family portrait with my parents, my brother, his wife and two kids, my husband, two kids, and myself.

I want more Pandora charms- LOL!

I would like the same thing. I went from paying $25-30 to fill my car up to paying almost double and with my commute to work and having to fill up about 2 times a week, that would be a great gift.

I don't know what I'm gonna get my mom....she comes home from Florida after Mom's day, so maybe the girls and I will treat her to a nice lunch and flowers.

For me, I want an incubator. I told dh and the girls several weeks ago, and hubby was shocked to learn yesterday that Mother's day is THIS Sunday. Um, really? The girls have been talking about it non stop....so we'll see what I actually end up with!

My Mom is hard to buy for as she is in her 70s and has a house full of everything. I gave her an Angel nightlight that has different colors it blends. I had one too so it's kind of a when we lay in our beds at night at both look at the same light it's like we're in the same room together. It's kind of a we both look at the same star kind of thing. And a card of course! I also send cards to two Aunts.

Wink

For the past 9 years I have been giving my mom a dozen pale yellow roses in memory of the passing of my brother which tomorrow makes 9 years. I also send her a card from all of us and always one special one from Heaven. For me just still having my mom here with us is a wonderful gift. From my children they give me the yellow roses and cards those are my favorite gifts, their words and love expressed to me.....Peace and blessings to all...Catherine

Since I'm the receiver and not the giver now, I like gift cards for movie theaters, or a favorite restaurant. I also love a local candy company, Merb's, chocolate covered strawberries, but unfortunately the cost is getting prohibitive. Last year they were $23 a pound and I'm afraid to guess what they will be this year. My husband loves to garden and will probably bring in a bouquet or more of flowers from the yard if there's enough blooming.

Is it my imagination or is Mother's Day early this year?

Mother's Day is not really early, but Easter was late this year, so it was only two weeks between the two holidays. For those of us that work in the seasonal field it has created havoc!

The last few years my daughter had bought me hanging baskets of flowers. They were always beautiful, but if they aren't watered everyday, they would die, as the branches were large and would wilt. I hinted around this year for a couple 6 packs of Marigolds for my bed in front of the house. That way, I don't have to water too much, as I sure am getting forgetful. Before that I was given gift cards for restaurants. I would think jewery is nice, or even a magazine subscription or books, if they read. A gift cert to a grocery store too, the way times are right now, I sure would appreciate. My mother and grandmother have passed on, so I am not buying for them anymore. My mother was always hard to pick for.

Apparently, alot of mothers are asking for Kindles or Nooks this year. I must have delivered 8-10 of them this week. Sounds like a good idea.

My MIL lives alone with her cat. Her cat is like her child. My kids want to give her a kitty play cube thing. I bought one with a hammock and a tunnel that she buy additional pieces and add to if she wants to. I got my Mom a potted plant to put near her back door where we all walk in.

I sent her a card and will take her out for lunch on Mother's Day. She's in her 80s and doesn't need or want much. So, I just got her a jigsaw puzzle as a token gift. I'm also going to bring her some geraniums.

We buy my MIL artificial hanging flowers from Michael's. They are absolutely beautiful -- there is no way you can tell they're not real

They don't need any care whatsoever and last for years

Flowers. I bought a big hanging basket for mom. DH always takes me to the green house and lets me get anything I want

An idea that I had (but forgot about) was to make greeting cards for Mom. Last summer I took a lot of pictures around their house ~ the wreath on the front door, flowers, yard art. I intended to print them out on greeting card paper, but forgot. Her birthday is in August, so I'll make them for then. She is in her mid 80s and doesn't need or want anything either. I figured the greeting cards would be personal and she could use them to write notes to friends, or use them for birthday or get well cards.

haha so now my mom wants a tattoo, she has been talking about it since last year, but never got around to it.
I guess that is her gift this year. I would rather get her something else, but that's what she wants to do to celebrate her day. I won't see her until next Saturday though.
