Restaurant.com is such a SCAM!

Twice now I have bought multiple giftcertificates from Restautant.com which turned out later to be nonparticipating restaurants.Restaurant.com then replaces my giftcertificates I bought AT Restaurant.com with $25 giftcertificates that can ONLY be used at Ideal.com which does not have the same Restaurants available as whats available at Restaurant.com which is WHERE I bought my original giftcertificates. This is soooo not fair! I am out so much money because of this scam they are pulling. And what REALLY pisses me off is that they KNOWINGLY still offer the giftcertificates for the nonparticapting restaurants for sale at Restaurant.com. This is clearly a scam to get you to buy giftcertificates that aren't any good, then replace them with giftcertificates to a different site that has nothing available.I am so peeved I just need to vent.Arrrrgh!
I will never buy another thing Restaurant.com ever again!

Thankyou for letting me vent.

I'm very sorry that happened to you. I have only used them for one place and I hate that I cannot check the balance of the ones I have to see if they are good.

yes, you have to apply given code at checkout to see the $2 when certificates are 80% off

Unless you're G.W. Bush. Then it's:

Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — You can't get fooled again.

I haven't used them in years, but they used to be okay. I wonder if someone bought them out. I quit using them because of the quality of the restaurants they offered in my area. I think all the groupon type sites may have hurt them as well. Did you talk to a rep. after they booted you to an unacceptable site? Maybe if you keep calling you will get someone who will fix things for you.

There are quite a few nice restaurants in my area (near Disneyland) I have never had any problems using this. I have only used it for places I normally dine at.
And.....I just looked last night and they automatically deduct the certificate from your restaurant.com account so you know what you have active at all times! YAY!
I just ordered pizza with a coupon and will be picking it up in a few minutes. It works great for us. Maybe just give it a try if you are familiar with the places you will be using it.

I had this happen to me once and I had my money refunded to me. I would give them a call and tell them gc's to another online site is not acceptable.

I've cashed in some points for restaurant.comcertificates. Besides what has already been said, 'I don't like the fact that you have to spend so much to redeem them.....buying 2 meals....certain times of the day...other limitatioins...

I have never purchased from them and never will. I'm not sure if I'll even redeem points there again. It just seems like too much trouble, and doesn't really save money in the long run.

I had forgotten that part. That was another reason I quit using them. My husband and I almost always split an entree and that was not workable for us using these coupons. I could work around most of the limitations, but not that one.

Now I just watch for Groupons, and the other sites that are in competition with them, to offer discounts. We went to a Brazilian place last night with one and had a very good and interesting meal that we would never have done otherwise. I paid $15 for a coupon worth $35 and we took our son. Without him we would have just about broken even. There were no restrictions. The only thing to watch is the expiration date.
