I *love* how when this kind of crap happens, the person claims that their email/twitter/facebook/whatever account was "hacked". Really? How stupid do you think I am??of It's not terribly easy to hack an account, and generally it does not serve any purpose!

It's a pet peeve of mine--that was the excuse the Ex used whenever he got busted for his inappropriate behaviour. Very few people are so important that their accounts would even register on a hackers radar.

Don't lie. Just pony up and take responsibility for your bad behaviour....

Yeah...

He started out 'hacked".

Then he started saying "pranked".

I think if a congressman has anything hacked it could very well be a federal offense. He doesn't want anyone finding the IP it originated from, so he is downplaying the seriousness of it.

The telling thing to me is that he apparently tweeted just before and after that went out. Looks like he was definitely on Twitter at the time it happened...

ITA just take responsibility. Don't insult our intelligence and say something like, oh, I don't know with certitude whether that's my closeup crotch picture! Come on now, that was so lame.

I like the part where he won't say if it is his crotch or not.

Agreed, Lizette. When the Repub. congressman from NY sent a pic of his shirtless self to some lady from a Craigslist ad he was forced out faster than you can say 'weiner'.

It seems most politicians have problems keeping their weiner under control.

It is men with power, not just politicians. Religious leaders can blame it on the Devil Poor Anthony has nothing to blame but his wandering weiner. I hope that beautiful wife of his (and every woman who has supported a spouse during their rise to power and been screwed) leaves him and takes the bulk of the cash as she goes. It saddens me to know Elizabeth Edwards didn't live to watch her scumball husband fall.

I must say -- I am glad his wife wasn't standing behind him as he made his admission. Nothing pisses me off more than a male in power saying how they are "so sorry" with their wife in the background.

wasn't there one wife who was at the press conference when hubby dearest professed his regret, remorse, blah, blah, blah---but you could tell she was sickened by it. And the next day she locked him out of the house, changed the voice message, etc.? Maybe I'm just wishful thinking.

That might be Jenny Stanford. Nothing more than another prostitute IMHO. Her and Mrs. Spitzer. Stanford's wife knew about his affairs at least a year before they became public, yet she stayed to keep the lifestyle. She only packed up and left after the news got out. Spitzer's wife wrote a book and blamed his infidelity on herself. HaHaHa

He is a legend in his own mind. Doesn't think he should deprive the ladies of a gander at his studly (?) assets and the public of his superior intellect and leadership skills.
He thinks the public will forgive and forget. He is done-for and doesn't get it at all.
BTW, Nancy Pelosi demands an ethics investigation.

Why do people think it's ok to disrespect their spouse by cheating?
Why do people think it's ok to cheat, period??
Why has lying/cheating become such an accepted character trait in politicians & celebrities?

Angry

Excellent questions Marilyn, all I can simply say is that most people who are in the limlight , honestly think they are above the law , and they think they are special , so therefore, they can come and go as they please to fullfill their sick needs. With Arnold and Maria I never fully believed in their marriage, he is so full of himself, why do these woman think it is acceptable and they take their cheating spouses back, I remember very well all the trouble with Clinton and Monica and how he came on national television and lied about it all, plain disgusting, however I am no fool, through the years I am sure many presidents cheated left and right. Why because they are the POTUS, THEY ARE ALLOWED NOT NO WAY NO HOW. Same for all the movie stars and right now to all of us everyday people, its plain wrong, out and out wrong...Sincerely sorry to any woman or man who must endure the heartache of a cheating spouse..... Peace and blessings to all... Catherine

I don't think it is any different than 200 ago. We just have better technology to find out and better communication so more of us know.

It is interesting that every bad actor in the political arena of internet exposure is a man. Maybe I've been sleeping, but have we had any female politicians exposing themselves online? Certainly, women as a group comprise a smaller proportion of public figures then men, but still, where are our females? Sarah Palin exposes her ignorance about Paul Revere ringin' the bell and firin' the gun, but I don't think that she is exposin' her boobs on Twitter. Michelle Bachmann, similarly delusional, but I don't think she is flashin' on the internets.

I believe it has more to do with power than genitalia. Cheating Because You’re a Man Or Because of Your Power? And, since more men are in powerful positions, we associate it as a male trait.

However, in my observations-- a female who is caught cheating suffers more social consequences than her male counterpart when it becomes public knowledge. If Barbara Boxer's boobs were the subject of the week, she would be out the door with no forwarding address.

The arrogance really bothers me. "I did this, too bad, I'm not going anywhere". It makes me want to vomit.

New York Times is reporting that Weiner's wife is pregnant, pretty early in pregnancy.

edited to add: Since he considers himself a master of public relations, I think he had this information leaked now because he hopes the American public and press will have more respect for his wife than he does and back off the story.

Now---he's going to take a Leave of Absence and seek treatment!
Treatment for WHAT?? Oh, wait--he's probably a sex addict (insert eye roll here).
I am so very tired of that excuse!
