We have talked about people buying large amounts of an item (due to Extreme Couponing show recently) but, what about the people who are going around clearing out the coupons? Taking whole pads or most of them, and then selling them??? Is this really any different???

And, how does one acquire so many coupons??

Doing the right thing isn't always the same as doing the easy thing.

I've wondered myself, especially seeing how many people "have".

I suppose it could be a connection with a newspaper carrier, or a blinkie lady with leftovers, but that aside, how do you get thousands? And how do you ethically make money or trades off of all of those leaving so many people without the chance themselves in your area to have gotten what should have been available to them?

I get extra coupons from family members and co-workers, but nothing to the extreme that some people get. (I may end up with 3-4 inserts a week) if there is a really good coupon that I could use more than 3-4 of, such as the 50/1 nesquick, I will order them, but even then the most I would order would be 10. I was also able to get about 50 of the smart water coupons because the young kid working at the gas station where I found them was going to throw them away, so I asked if I could just have a few and he gave me what was left on the pad. I kept some for myself, but gave most away.
I also check the coupon board to see if I have anyhitng that anyone is looking for, and normally I just send the coupons to the person, unless they have something that I am really looking for.

Not to go off topic here, but I had posted on Craigslist asking if there were any couponers in my area that would like to meet maybe once or twice a month to swap coupons and talk about any good deals that are out there and tell me about the stores in the area and their coupon policies, since I am new to the area. Instead of getting people interested in meeting, I received e-mails from people telling me that they would rather have the group "teach" them how to do what they see on tv. One woman told me, she takes one day a week to drive in a 25 mile radius to each and every store to see what coupons she could find, so if there were any I needed to e-mail her because she probably has them.

Now I can strangle it

I see on the show that there are subscriptions sites for coupons. Not sure how they work, but I'm assuming that they pay for them. Others buy a large stack of papers each weekend. And of course they print them online at other coupon sites. Twenty years ago, I would have been on the bandwagon for this, but these days I just don't have the energy. And so much of what they buy are things I don't use.

I buy/trade for my coupons from the trading board here or off Ebay. I never get more than about 30 of each coupon I need. My double coupon store only doubles one of each coupon, so I never get huge stockpiles like what they show on tv, although I am able to build up some small amounts. I also give alot to my oldest daughter, who is a single mom with two kids and I donate alot to our towns Food Bank.

There is a lady at my work who is in a coupon group. I give her all my coupons from any/every source that I don't use and when there are coupons I want she gets me multiple copies which she has because she has many friends like me who give her all the ones they don't use. I am not one to buy multiples of things. I will buy maybe three of something if it's a great deal. Most of the coupons I use are for non food items. We buy most of our food in raw unprocessed form so no boxes of processed foods, etc.
