It seems like every time I go shopping, I find a dog in a car, with the windows cracked. Please don't do this in the summer! The car gets extremely hot in just a few minutes and it can kill your dog. I used to work for a vet, and believe me, I saw it happen several times. It is just so sad and avoidable.

Today, I waited about 15 minutes for some owners to return. When they didn't, I went into a business and got the number for the local police. Fortunately (for the dogs), by the time I got back to my car the owners had returned.


I'm going to print some of these signs and leave them on the windshields of people who do this:

(If I had my way, I'd lock the owners in their car for the same amount of time and let them see how comfortable they are.)

We were in WalMart the other day when they paged a person - named the make, model, color & license plate of the car and said over the intercom that they had 4 dogs in their car. Not sure what happened with it, but I'd never heard that before. When they started in with the make/model, etc. I thought they had gotten hit in the parking lot or something.

No no jujubee as a huge animal lover say right there on your soapbox, I too would love to let the owners stay in the car and feel just how hot it is, only they , the owners will only realize and feel the heat not like our beloved pet, for they have all that hair all over their bodies. This too makes me so upset everytime I witness the irresponsible pet owners who do this to our beloved pets shame on them no peace here.........Catherine
