Worth the two minute read...

and you'll understand why after you read one very important sentence in this article from Empowering Parents.
Acting Out Behavior - Why Misreading Social Cues Leads to Behavioral Problems

under the 7 Ways to Help Your Child part

It clearly states:
For Older Kids: Remember that your child’s willingness to do this exercise is key. If they're not willing to do this with you, then forget about it.

This answers a lingering question I've had for quite some time now.

Have a good one,
X

Good useful article. So many parents of children with social ( and other difficulties) don't know what to do. The point you highlighted is interesting as most kids with social diffiulties really do want to fit it and will work on it if given concrete exercises. It is a very, very rare ( and highly troubled child) who would not want to work on getting along with peers. And you end up with a highly troubled adult.

Very true. I've just never understood grown ups that don't understand social ques.
It's a duh factor for most but this might explain the exception to the rule.

It could end the bang the head process knowing the results are moot.

Kids with Asperger syndrome are bad at reading social cues and aren't particularly concerned with their relationships with other kids. They often end up as computer geeks, but not "highly troubled adults."
