Wink We got a new member to our family of many pets

We decided since our male tuxedo cat Minnie Me is getting old and Miss Daisy Duke is still young we should get a new kitten. We truly as a family have a real love for black cats. I grew up with black cats and always had collies. So we picked up today a 10 week old solid black with yellow eyes all ready fixed male cat. We named Wiz, he is so cute, kittens and puppies are so adorable. Will try to post a picture of him.. Peace to my friends. Catherine

Sadly, I'm lurking on petfinder for a dog. My big dog ran away almost 2 weeks ago.....and I'm losing hope. I'm not one to stick to a particular breed or color. I'm just looking for the perfect new friend for our family.

Omjg freer I am dearly sorry to hear this news. Did your pet have a chip under the skin. I cannot even imagine what your going through. Many blessings and hugs .I can say this I grew up with Collies and since being married we have had 6 shetland sheepdogs, they are so beautiful, so sweet, so kind, great with kids, the only 2 negatives I can think of is that they do bark alot, they are from the herding group and were trained to herd the sheep on farms, and they do shed alot. However there are so many breeds for me while I deeply love collies and shelties all dogs are beautiful to me. Peace and sincerely hope all works out please keep us posted. Catherine

Do you have any skin issues with them? I think this is the breed I have read is prone to an Auto Immune Disorder.

Yes Aia your correct one of my female shelties has suffered from dry skin, it actually looks like oatmeal flakes, so we only bathe her with a oatmeal based shampoo and every day I give her a supplement of Lipiderm which is to help with a healthy skin and coat. It contains Omega 1 & 4 fatty fish oil. It does help her a lot. Peace. Catherine

I've heard that if you put vegetable oil on their dry dog food that it helps their skin, too.

cheryl thanks so much on the comments of the name "Sunshine". As you can tell from my signature line, I named her after my brother Sonny who passed away, She is very quiet, extremely sweet, I personally call her Sonny-Sunshine, she loves to lay down and stare outside the glass french doors, we have in our home. It seems to me as if she is a old soul and really connects with your feelings. However we have 4 shelties, the Dad Simba, who is so opposite, truly his name should have red-bull he has so many energy but he is really tiny only 14 lbs. Then we have their daughter Sanibel named after our favorite spot in Florida. Then finally we adopted Jax who out of the four is the most nervous. Doctors and people have told me, he has this personality because he was the last one to join the group. Now he reminds us of a real baby, he is literally terrified of, strangers. I have talked about him before, we have tried to socialize him some, but now he will be 2 on 11/9 and I assume his personality is what it is, but I will tell ya, he is the biggest lover and kisser of them all. Thanks and peace.. Catherine

We have added to our Zoo too and it wasn't by choice, somone dumped out a very small, starved, and from the looks and behavior mistreated kitten. Just my luck the day I found her on my porch the news ran a story that the local pound would be putting a bunch of cats and dogs to sleep in two weeks if they weren't adopted. My fate was sealed with that story, NO WAY could I take that pitiful thing to the pound to die. It took me a week to get her to let me touch her and I had already noticed blood down both sides of her nose. When she finally let me rub her back for the first time, she still was a sack of skin covered bones after a week of eating at least 4 times a day. A couple days after that I realized her tail had been broken about a half inch from the tip. So new Zoo member, now I just have 6 cats, 2 dogs, 1 horse, 1 goat and about 20 chickens.

Ya think I could get a government grant for animal rescue????? Maybe my own padded cell would be better!!
