Best cupcake recipes???

My DD is making cupcakes for a Baby shower for her sister in law. She is trying different recipes she is not having any luck. Does anyone have a sure fire recipe for fancy cupcakes they have tried?? Frosting ideas would be welcome as well.

( I was chatting with her as I was writing this and was thinking that when I joined this board she was a very young girl and now she is married, owns her own home and has a wonderful life....my how time flies.)

When I told her I was asking you ladies she got excited........I love my girl....

...this after my little rant about subjects of substance...lol

I have a lovely recipe that we as a whole family really love. It is for Red Velvet Cupcakes with homemade cream cheese icing...Peace... Catherine. Edited to say yes time does fly, the older they get, I feel time is going by so fast. If only perhaps in all our dreams and wishes.. we all could turn back the clocks and make them little again. At ages 25, 23 and 19, where did time go......

Is she more concerned about the batter or the decorations?? Every cooking board has a host of great recipes for the batter. Wanting them to look special though would be the time consumng part, although there are lots of sugestions. I can't help as I don't make "little food"... Sorry.

I guess she is concerned about the batter. You can decorate with anything and almost all icings are delicious!

If you want to make any cake/cupcake taste better add a softened cream cheese. You can either mix with the batter or even better: put partial batter in your cake pan or each cupcake hole (I'm not sure what the right word is for this) then put in some cream cheese then top with batter. Yummy! Moist & creamy!

She had made some cupcakes in July while we were there and they were wonderful, but she can't remember where she got the recipe. She asked if I remembered if there was sour cream and I didn't think so........I think it was cream cheese!! Thanks for the memory jog annadrose!!!

We were recently given some cupcakes that had cream cheese in the middle. They also had a mini Oreo stuck on top somehow.

I never thought of cream cheese. I'll have to give that a try!

I don't have an answer to this one but after googling the term Baby Cupcakes in Google Images... I may be needing to stop by the local bakery on my way to do afternoon pickup for the kiddos today! I'm craving a cupcake now.

This recipe sounds so good (and light). Decadent without being overpowering.

I'm a sucker for meringue frosting (my mom always called it 7 minute frosting)
