NYPD,FDNY, and EMS officers not invited to 9/11 Memorial this year

Has anyone heard that Mayor Bloomberg said that there is no room for the NYPD, FDNY and EMS officers at the 9/11 10th anniversary memorial this year?

I feel that they deserve to be there. They showed up and put their lives on the line. Some of them are still suffering today. I lost a friend in February who showed up to help, he suffered at the end. But I know if he were still alive, and God forbid it happened again, he wouldn't have thought twice about doing it again.
So what are your thoughts on this?

I read that. I can't imagine a reason good enough for this to be true.

Why not hold two services? A day is still 24 hours long isn't it?

Funerals manage to accommodate multiple grieving sessions in a short period of time with no disrespect to everyone involved. I see the same possibility for the 9/11 remembrance as well.

Some families limit graveside to family only but have held visitation earlier or a simple memorial service a few hours prior.

The first responders from that day should be some of the first ones invited to the memorial. Without them and their heroics on that day, there would have been many more names added to the death toll.

Has Mayor Bloomberg forgotten that there were first responders killed that day as well? If something were to happen on the day of the memorial, he would want the first responders to do be around then!

I agree, if space / timing is the problem, then hold 2 services. Those men and women may not have been in the towers on that horrible day, but when the call came in, they showed up to assist, not knowing what was going on, what the future was going to hold, or if they would also be injured/killed. What is sad is seeing how sick some of them have gotten because they were there.

Unhappy

Maryann very sad tragic news to hear, those men all in uniform totally deserve to be there. Agreed make it a 2 day service so that all may come and may their respect on this very sad 10th Anniversary.....Peace and sincere prayers to all, whom lost their lives, that fateful day and also to all their family and loved ones that remain. God Bless them all and be there for them to give them the strenght they need...Peace...Catherine
