Is everyone prepared for Hurricane Irene

We had a meeting at work about this storm this morning. It's suppose to hit us Sunday, and they are saying it's going to be bad. We aren't even near the shore area, my office is about an hour away from there. People around here are going crazy, just like they do whenever snow is in the forecast. I ran to the store a few minutes ago to grab something for lunch, and had to leave. It was beyond busy, there were no carts or baskets to be found, lines were horrible.
Are you all prepared? I plan on filling my car on my ride home tomorrow so it will be full for the weekend. We have food in the house that we can eat if the electric goes out. I took the few boxes that were in my basement and put it in an extra room that I have, just incase the basement floods. this is my first storm in this apartment so I would rather be safe.

For those of you in the path.. stay stafe

We are trying, this does sound really scary for all who will be effected. Right now it is very dark and it will soon start to rain. To all please keep safe and protected peace for now...Catherine

The storm is near the Bahamas right now, so it has not even touched US waters. Is not due to hit the northeast until Sunday.

it will hit somewhat on Saturday in Connecticut where our summer home is. I just hope and sincerely pray all that are in her path, find a safe haven and be protected......August is always a bad month for Hurricane's I assume the heat just gets too hot. It is a very scary thought to be in those water's on any Islands that are effected....Peace and prayers to keep all safe....Catherine

We are as prepped as we can get because one never knows exactly where the path will travel. With that said, here is a site that I have been using to track Irene:

Hurricane IRENE

Suezz, I saw you post that the storm was not in the U.S. waters yet. Any storms that different areas along the East Coast may be getting right now are NOT from Irene.

You are right ( or we both are right). We may get thunder storms tonight, but it has nothing to do with the hurricane. Thanks for the tracker....I will be using it

My stste is in the path. (NH). I just did grocery shopping a day early to beat the croud. Everyone had the same idea. I got cardboard boxes off of the basement floor in case we flood. Took in the lawn furnature and picked up the yard in case we get the heavy wind. The worst of it is supposed to get here Sunday afternoon. We had a thunder storm this afternoon.

Just came home from Stop and Shop there are so many people buying everything. Also was just watching the weather reports with my husband, this Irene Hurricane is really turning out to be something really serious. Only time will tell for sure as we get closer. Again stay safe to all and peace and blessings, all will be okay.....Catherine

Last week, we had 1 inch hail. Monday we had a historical 5.8 earthquake. Now we are waiting for Irene. I am as ready as I can be. I live in Maryland right outside of DC. I wonder if school will open on Tuesday?

We have had very nasty weather today (SC coast). But my younger son said he experienced the best surfing of his life. I'm glad I didn't know about it until after he was home safely.

Luckily we are far enough inland here in SC that we are only getting wind from the storm. Unfortunately, we have family in CT right in the storms path and are praying for them and everyone else in the storms path.
Everyone in Irene's path please stay safe.
Judy

Yep! I've heard that incoming hurricanes usually generate superb waves for surfers.
And yes, sometimes, it's best that we parents don't know what are children are doing until after the fact.
